RIP: Norm MacDonald

This comes as a shock. Another comedic genius gone too soon. He was absolutely stellar when he was on SNL and only got better with age. I'm going to miss seeing his work. First Trevor Moore, now Norm. I feel gutted.

Yes! Sean Locke was the other comedian I meant to mention in my initial post. They say these things happen in threes. Sadly in that case that saying was true. Trevor Moore, Sean Locke, and now Norm MacDonald. All within several weeks of one another and two dying from cancer. I hope they eradicate that disease one day.

I didn't know he was sick until today, but anyone followed his Instagram account, his video clips from 2020 showed him looking gaunt and pale. Didn't think it was cancer, though. The fact he lived with it for 9 years is a miracle in of itself. My stepfather found he had stage 3 lymphatic cancer late and it metastasized and killed him in about a year and a half. Cancer is terrible thing to have but it's remarkable as a living organism; it's evolved with us and it won't go away soon. Possibly never. I think the best hope we have is that we end up learning to keep it under control; live with it like advances in HIV medicines has born.

Anyway, a real chunk of coal.
