Ridley Scott Prometheus: NOT the Alien Prequel Details

Whoa, whoa, whoa. WAY too many words.
First I was like whaa? Then I was like, huh?
Then I was like, I'm bored.

Slightly OT, but the one flick I enjoyed with some Alien/2001/Solaris DNA was Sunshine - didn't love the antagonist, but thought everything else was great: acting, production design, music, direction. Really had me there until the ending, but the rest was so well done I still really liked it.

No link to new info but i'll let you off this once :lol

I agree re sunshine and funnily enough it was one of Danny Boyle's least successful films at the BO. Extremely under rated and over looked by a lot of people. I was at the Prop store of London way before it was released and got to see the Gold costumes that had been used and the detail was incredible, we knew then it was going to be epic.....sadly no one else though so upon release.

lol, oh there's new info, but it's spoiler filled and I don't want to ruin everything about the film before I have a chance to see it. For me, on this one, I need to go into the theater with a sense of wonder and mystery then knowledge and judgement. As it is, I feel like I already know too much, and I'm trying like hell to avoid all the spoilers I can.

Completely agree. I thought Sunshine was absolutely amazing... right up until it went all Hellraiser/Event Horizon.... but even with that weirdness... it was a surprisingly amazing movie.

This looks like it's going to be good. I've always enjoyed these movies but they could have done better with the Alien vs predator crossover.

I wish I had the backbone to not click on these links, it would be nice to go into the theatre devoid of spoilers or info re this movie, somehow I think I may let that down for myself. :angry

I remember when I watched Predator, I new nothing about the film at all and had never even heard of it, now thats how to do it :lol

Yeah, I think I'm going to try to avoid most spoilers except what's presented in the trailers. Knowing how they're approaching the secrecy of this project, I imagine there's huge sections of the plot that haven't even been hinted at, that we won't have the slightest clue about until we sit down in the theater on the day.

For all the alleged "secrecy" surrounding this project, I don't think there's a single significant plot point that hasn't already been revealed online.

The man responsible for 99% of those reveals? Ridley Scott, of course.

For a director allegedly determined to keep things secret he seems incapable of keeping his yap shut (JJ Abrams and Christopher Nolan could teach Scott a thing or two in that department; those guys know how to keep their narrative cards close to the chest).

CutThumb, you are an incredibly well-spoken individual with fantastically interesting things to say.

However may I make the suggestion that you format your posts in a different manner? When you have 500-word paragraphs it gets to be an eye-sore.
And I think you lose half of your audience to the "too long, did not read" impulse, too.

Hit enter a few times...it won't hurt...

Ok guys, Cut is more than capable of creating small short and sweet posts, I know cos I've read them all. It's just as boring to read this kind of post as it is a long ramble from someone who has passion and a lot to say.

Please let's keep this on track and not turn it into how to be a good RPFer type showdown.

I have nothing against the "rambling". In fact, I love it.

My suggestion tied in with making it easier to read...so that I could read more of it...and love it more.

Most of the general public doesn't care about the Aliens franchise. In fact, the franchise itself might be sullied by the AvP movies and maybe even by Aliens 3/4.

There may be a reason why they're trying to distance themselves from Aliens. Somewhere along the line (AvP?), they just sorta became a generic monster-of-the-week... rather than live up to the brilliance of the first two movies.

I'm a casual fan of the series. I probably know more about it just being a member here than I do from watching the movies. I just rewatched the original and have Aliens set for a watch sometime soon, too.

I think Prometheus is the movie I'm looking forward to the most this year (that's saying a lot for me with Avengers coming up, too).

I hope it lives up to the hype we're seeing is this thread...

Twice now ive tried to sit through Avatar without success, Box Office means nothing when its your bum in the seat. Love your work Cut.

The spoilers didn't really bother me. I think this film looks great, regardless of it's connection to Alien.

I like how when he pronounces his name he puts emphasis on the "D"... as though it bugs him when people leave it off. :D
