Ridley Scott Prometheus: NOT the Alien Prequel Details

OK, now... If there's really a weathered face on top of that structure, could it be that they'd want it to evoke this ???

Hey why not? Then they can link the film up to the Battlestar Galactica universe too. :rolleyes

Sorry to insist but this image of Prometheus made me think of a XIXth century drawing by David Roberts :

(and don't forget that it looks like there's at least 5 egg silos / DUNE pyramids in the valley where Prometheus lands... This also reminds me of the "Valley of the kings" in Egypt, a valley where are located many Egyptian dignitaries' tombs)

I have decided to resist all new info from now on only a week or so till I see it and I've had enough of the spoilers now, some things are best left to the night :)

I'm compelled to post this, BUT don't go watch this unless you REALLY don't give a flip about spoilers. The video in this article gives away the fate of a few characters. It didn't bother me, but, I'm enjoying the spoilers frankly. But I'm not kidding. SPOILERY AS HECK:

Ain't It Cool News: The best in movie, TV, DVD, and comic book news.

Maybe I missed something, but I didn't see anything in there that we might not have already known. That one that gets torched is a new shot, but we already saw him on fire and jumping off the top of the vehicle in previous trailers. This just showed how he got on fire.

Nope. 2 very different people and you can hear Shaw yell his name.. the other is Fif, all monstered out jumping on the vehicle.

Tickets booked for next Thursday midnight preview screening. Will be wearing my Nostromo crew jacket. EXCITED!

That is all.

We heard a while back that Del Torro and Co had binned "At The Mountains of Madness" because of the close similarities to the "Prometheus" production.
More like a completely Updated Copy.
For "Shoggoths" read Engineers. Instead of Antartica ,a whole planet. Everything else is in there as well ,from the ancient alien city, the strange hieroglyphs, coming to Earth from the Stars , Tenticled Monsters etc.
I always felt "The Thing" owed a substantial parentage to ATMOM but without doubt "Prometheus" is going to be the favoured child from now on ,as well as owing a debt to that film as well . The Lovecraftian elements are just too strong to ignore. Considering that story is nearly a hundred years old no wonder the marketing has gone so mad of late. No doing a John Carter here.
Still hovering at B-. Technically it will look brilliant, the productional values are superb, and it will be a thrilling ride.
BUT, as many of us guessed this will be pretty mainstream now and the problem is its all starting to feel overly familair.
For those of us looking for a repeat of those halcyon Alien days, well theres always the memories. As long as there are no penguins in it I will enjoy it but the Cthulhu element glimpsed feels like a bit of a dropped ball. Not the beast I was looking for, but I can still hope.
