Aha.. I thought this was suspicious.

I saw a trailer on the Apple site, where the huge white Weyland logo and "PROMETHEUS" marking appeared to be added in later, through tracking or something... and sure enough, here's another copy of the same shot from another trailer, with the marking not there (apologies if all these observations are late to the party :lol)

The ship already had "USCSS PROMETHEUS" on it but in smaller dark lettering, further forward on the hull.

Kind of pathetic, really, doesn't even match the shape of the hull. That's marketing material, I guess.

I noticed that they added that big name for newer clips and trailers. I don't think it's pathetic. Companies tend to splash logos all over everything just like that. I doubt that it's how the ship will look in the movie.

I agree, without people knowing the origin of the story of Prometheus, they had to plaster it somewhere for it to make sense, so they added it to the side of the ship. Unfortunately, some people will now associate "Prometheus" with a space ship instead of a story about stealing fire from the gods.

Yeah, it's just soooooooooooooooooooo horrible that the name of the ship is on the side of it. I don't see what the big deal is. I'm sure when the movie comes out I'll be more intrigued by what's in screen than some lettering on the side of the ship!
