A while back I was watching "Critters 4", and one prop stood out. Captain Rick's big macho gun, the type II, Randall-Pickman beam blaster. This prop was by far the nicest prop in the movie. And considering how the other weapons were slightly modified paintball guns, well it occured to me that it wasn't made for the movie. I think it is possible that it was someone's pet project that got borrowed for C4, much like the robot suit in "Forbidden World".
