Reverb/echo voice effect

Hey, sorry if this is the wrong area, but I am making a helmet that I need to speak from. I've found from the 501st how to make a portable microphone/amp/speaker setup, but the problem is the voice itself. The character has a reverb/echoey effect on his voice, and I'm not sure how to produce it in a portable device. Most voice modulators/changers change the pitch or make it robot sounding, neither of which I need. I just need an echo effect.

Anything from wiring schematics to things i can buy would be extremely helpful!

It would help to know which character you are referring to. There are portable devices out there that do effects that can be applied to a microphone but echo may not be what you're looking for. Do you mind sharing who the helmet is from?
