Resin Printed 25" Blockade Runner w/Full Lights *Completed*

This is the middle section I struggled with, it just would not line up and no amount of apoxie sculpt or putty seemed to get it where I needed it to be. In hindsight, I should have used some finishing resin on this or even applied a bit of UV Resin which for me has worked really well when things just don't seem to line up and they are both self-leveling. Again, at the end of the day, this is literally for me to practice on and will be sitting way up high above my window so it's just time to wrap it up. Plus, weathering...

Base coat down and now the real fun begins!

Time for some primary colors, first up is Caboose Red which once it went down I think that maybe either D&H or Boxcar (or a mixture of the regular caboose and one of the others) would have been better. Once it's misted with the base coat and weathering it will be knocked back to a large degree.

Masking, lots of masking... At this stage, I also like to use my favorite paint 'chipping' method which is liquid latex.

Ended up flaring out that rear stripe on the upper hull way too much... oh well, was not going for any crazy level of accuracy with this build anyway.

All the main panels are down and it's time to wrap up this project!

Trying something new that I recently saw from one of my favorite modelers to get some variation in the paint. The stark contrast will be knocked back some in subsequent layering coats. Basically I just randomly threw on a bunch of latex as though I was working on my slave 1 :)

The only downside is that it took literally hours while watching TV to dig it out of all the crevices. I will probably give it a bit more thought and lay it down more strategically next time.

But I am super happy with the result.

Time for final weathering! I have never built or painted a ship this size so the weathering took a few days but was a ton of fun. I pretty much just threw it on my standing-height table and just kept walking around it looking for places that needed attention.

Used a mixture of airbrush, the Tamiya weathering kit, a few small washes, and pigments.

Other than getting the guns into position, I am calling this one done! The inner engines are a tiny bit smaller (printed with a different resin so they shrunk more) so I need to find some acrylic rods that are just a bit smaller than the 10mm one's I used for the upper and lower engines so they diffuse correctly.

A combination of magnetic parts and friction fit ensures that all the delicate parts can be removed and or even replaced if they ever break;

You throw a vintage 70's photo filter on some of those photos and I don't think I could tell you the difference between this and the filming model! Great job!

Exactly. Well done! Most impressive.

Too kind, thanks guys! Looking forward to the next version. I also have some files for an escape pod and so I plan to get that going and make a nice display with both pieces.
