Resin Heads - Removing Seams

I have a couple of resin head casts I hope to eventually start work on.

But I have a question regarding seams. Both the heads I have, have seams going down the middle (across the ears, neck etc).

It would be easy enough to sand these seams down with sandpaper...but each head has a lot of skin details such as pores and wrinkles.

So, how do I put this detail back in after I sand the seam down?

Should I sand the seam down more than needed to leave space to add filler or milliput, which i could then put texture into?

Any tips or information on how you guys solve this problem would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Yep. I would start with a small dremel tool tip to get the seam down, then use a texture stamp to get the lost detail back in.

Buy some liquid latex from an arts/crafts store and paint an untouched area of the skin. Coat it with a few layers to make it thick. Peel it off. Apply some putty to the seam and then press the detail into it with the texture stamp you created. I use Magic Sculp when doing things of this nature because it thins with water. Magic Sculp

You can also sculpt the detail in the fresh filler, if you can't find a texture stamp. I like using Aves, as it gives me the time to do either- not that familiar w/milliput.
