Resin - can you reshape it?

I am doing a project, in which some parts of my project are made of resin, but one or two pieces came slightly bent.

Is there a way you could bend resin pieces back to the correct shape? Is a heat gun a solution? :confused

To reshape the resin grill for my Han ANH blaster I just let it soak in boiling water for a few seconds before slowly bending it to the correct shape.
Be careful a: not to soak for too long. and b: gently does it.

I've been wondering this myself.. I have a bent crysknife that needs fixin'. I was thinking that heat might be the way to go, to soften it. Can anyone else vouch for the boiling-water trick? Not that I'm doubting you, Gerbil, I just like to get a second opinion before I do something I've never heard of before. :)

A heat gun does wonders. Where styrene usually curls up when heated, resin will go limp. Just be sure to get a slow temp buildup or you will scorch the resin. Continually move it all over the piece. If it's a small piece or you have a lot of time, a hairdryer will work as well. If you have to shape the piece with your hand, make sure to wear gloves as the piece will be very hot. Once it is where you want it, run it under cold water to 'set' it. Boiling water will also do the trick, but I find this method messy and dangerous.

Yup!

Boiling water for me, if you use a heat gun or hairdryer you don't get even heat dispersal and if the resin is in any way brittle it can snap where it hasn't been heated.

IMHO. :)

yup
HOT water then while holding it correct run cold watwer on it to set it.
i have brought back some horrible messes this way.:lol
just dont force, heat more.

This is what I have a steam gun for. I use it all the time on my little resin and plastic dudes for battletech.

All the good stuff about boiling water but no wait, targeted area, and you can mess with it while sitting in front of your comp.

For big stuff or thick stuff I go with a heat gun though.
