Replica WWI Jager Pistole .32ACP

Thought I would carry on putting up pictures of what I have been up to. Here I am trying to get the front and rear straps smooth.

Next came the grip plates. I realized that these were to be done in two pieces as the center portion has the diamond pattern on it and the outer edge is smooth. So, the first step was to cut out the outer dimension with the bandsaw. Then marking the outer smooth edge with a pencil, I drilled a hole in the center portion and cut the outer frame out with a coping saw. Once this was done I cleaned them up with sandpaper.

Well, I think the pictures speak for themselves. After cutting out and fitting the two components of each plate to a base piece of 1/8th - 3mm thinline, I then filed the basic shape and then used coarse sandpaper to get a smooth finish. ( I personally think the plates are too thick, especially at the top._ I'll deal with that later.) I then used a cutting tool to make the diamond pattern on the inner piece and dry fitted them to the side of the gun and I think they will look good when finished.

I have put this build on hold as I want to get my Tie Fighter costume finished. Will get back to this one as soon as I can. Thanks.

It has been a while, but I am starting to work on this project again. Have decided to dry assemble and paint the whole thing and then weather it so as to get a good finish, then I can revisit the inner workings and get those sorted out.
