Replica MI M3 Tactical helmet

Hi All,
First time posting on the RPF after roaming the forum as a guest. So far I’ve been building a Starship Troopers helmet for cosplay and static display.

I 3D printed the parts thanks to a free template on Thingiverse. And assembled them just got a bit more sanding and sculpting to do on some details but it’s starting to look the part

Back again all,

After noticing a slight weakness in some of the joints I fibreglassed the inside now I’ll shoot down to the local Bunnings and hunt down some paint and some plumbing parts for finer details.

No problem Nerf Herder, I’m definitely finishing this, I have a Morita on the printer right now and will be assembling that piece once the Helmet is finished.

The Morita... Huge kit I might add as well, almost done 7 more prints groups to go.

After seeing this weapon how didn’t critics see this movie was satire?? It’s two guns strapped together with no iron sights and seemingly bottomless Mags as a 8 year old I just fell in love lol

Thanks for the kind words,
Added the speaker details using plumbing washers. As this model lacked anything besides a hollow spot on the side of helmet. Also gave it a light hit with hammer tone to give the helmet a texture under top coats, don’t worry I’m still sanding between coats

Drying first top coat now,

Any ideas on how to do cheek pieces? I was thinking rubber but paint doesn’t adhere well so Eva foam?

I think the 1st top coat looks good. I like the grey and I think the speaker details I added came up nicely too. The weather here is making it hard for paint to dry so might have to wait till tomorrow to coat again.

The colour I used is Colourbond ironstone. Going to give it one more coat of top then start weathering and adding personalised detailing.

More Morita, finally finished printing today. Going to be building that tonight as the helmet is ready for weathering tomorrow after paint having a chance to cure.

Hi all, back again the Morita is coming up nicely here’s a progress pic.

Due to the firearm laws here I won’t be putting triggers in, even though the Morita looks like a sci fi weapon the laws here are tricky so removing a gun like quality certainly lowers the police attention.

Thankyou for your kind words, it’s been a struggle. Since the projects started I’ve been through a lot of personal issues and had to get back on my feet.

I’m glad to say though that I’ve started again and have my Armor and Morita almost ready for Halloween
