Replacement Graflex 2.0 Kit parts??? Damaged Threads

Long story short, I believe I've screwed up part of my Graflex 2.0 kit. Somehow my bottom half piece (where you attack the grips to the outside) has become jammed halfway up the threading on the inner core. It's lose to move a few millimeters, but ultimately is stuck in there. I'm gonna assume the threading has become stuffed at some point, even though I'm certain I never forced it on at any point. I've not tried any lube or anything because I didn't even know that was a thing until about 20 minutes ago.

At this point, I'm considering replacement parts, I just dont know if that's even possible given how the kits are sold. I know you can buy a 1" blade holder for the kit, which could replace the 7/8" core it comes with (however I'd rather keep the 7/8" holder so my bunny ears don't look stupid with a blade in that is larger than they are build to hold), but either way, the lower half will still need replacing too. And since both parts of essential to the build, it's not like ESB or ANH exclusive parts that people would be selling off left, right and center.

It's worth noting I have no purchased electronics or anything coming for this kit. Right now the kit is all I have. I'm still planning the internals, so I'm not stuck having to work with specific internal components in mind. Any solution would be great, as long as I can either safely separate the 2 pieces and keep working normally, or replace them without buying a whole new kit.

I'm in a real pickle here and a little stressed out. This kit set me back close to $400aud, which is a lot of money for me. Shipping alone cost me $70-$80 to get it from the US to Australia. I can't afford to simply buy another whole kit just to get 2 pieces. I don't know what I should do here.

The Custom Saber Shop still has some scratch-and-dent pieces in stock. Email them and get a functional bottom while you can.

edit:

just took a closer look at the 2.0 kit, looks like it is different to the vintage Graflex, where the bottom piece seems to "screw on" to the clamp/top piece

I guess the best bet is to use some WD40 and see if that helps (available from your local Coles/Woolies/Bunnings/servo)

if that fails, maybe try finding in a metal rod that fits into those grip holes and try to turn/unscrew it that way? (like how you would do it if you had to change your tyre with your car's toolkit)

Heat it up.
If your not of the mechanical type, any machine shop should be able to separate this for you.
They should be able to rethread it as well.
If you were closer, I'd do it for you.

I tried using a hex key through the grip holes I wont be using, and no dice. I gave it a fair try, didn't go super hard though. I figure if I can still save the threading somehow, I dont want to force it and damage it more.

Assuming I can find a local garage/mechanic, and they can separate the two pieces, how could they rethread it? Are you familiar with this kit and understand the pieces I'm talking about? Or are you just assuming we're talking about something basic like a screw going into a hole?

Emailed them, as well as Parks Sabers incase they can offer any help. I dont know if TCSS sell the Scratch/Dent pieces as individuals though, I'm under the impression they sell those as whole kits still.

strap wrench is a great idea! u can get them dirt cheap as well
