Remove and re-apply iron on patches?

I've lost a bit of weight since last year and my flight suit based costume is just a bit baggy which I just found out today. Its very likely I could get a new flight suit in a smaller size very quickly but not the patches. So my question is, can I remove iron on patches AND reattach them to new fabric? Should/Can I apply new heat based adhesive?

I'd recommend picking up some Heat'n'Bond, it's a 2 sided iron adhesive paper. The original attachment and subsequent removal of a patch will leave a potion of the adhesive embedded in the cloth it was stuck to, and therefore not sticky enough to be attached again. Use the iron on the inside of the cloth where the patch is, and once it's warm it should peel off easily. Then apply a new layer of the adhesive. Be aware that there is a good chance the spot where the patch was will have a visible mark from the old adhesive, so the old flight suit may not be easily re-purposed.

My wife got some from Jo-Anne fabrics, I should also imagine you could find it in WalMart, Target, Micheals, etc in the fabric/sewing section.
