So my sister is a huge Harry Potter fan and I decided to maker her the remembrall that Neville receives. I haven't really seen very much about making the prop so I decided to share the making of it on here.
The ball itself is a plastic ornament that separates so that made my life a whole lot easier. It had a piece on the top so you could hang it up so I just cut that off with my dremel and sanded it smooth, its a pretty soft plastic so that was super easy. I then sketched on the design and engraved it with an x-acto knife, Im not super happy with how thin the engraved lines are but I'm sure if I went over the lines again it would show up a little better. For the gold band that goes around it I cut a quarter inch strip of 2mm craft foam and used my dremel to make eight "dents" that are opposite of each other. I painted this gold on bot sides since you can see it on the inside. For the smoke I used some red tissue paper and crumple it up, to make it stay in placed I put a corner of the paper in the crack where you close the two halves together. I then used some 36000 to glue the strip over the seam where the two halves close and bam! Remembrall
