Reflective Lenses

Hi guys

I have just watched the SDCC 09 video for the millionth time and I noticed that Bovine has some rather fetching mirrored lenses. I toyed with the idea of using some cheap sunglasses but can't find any big enough. Any ideas or alternate accessible material ?

I thought that his lenses looked a lot like a motorcycle helmet visor. $20-30 on ebay, probably...

Thank Hez you inspired me and what usually happens when I'm inspired? I pull a "Macguyver" I miss Aaron

This is so going to turn into a tutorial!

.'. Materials I used are Plastic from the front of my 9" Neca Alien figure (similar plastic or thin perspex is fine)
.'. Some van window tint I never got round to using
.'. Standard ruler
.'. Double sided tape.
.'. The SDCC 08 theme playing on itunes just because it's amazing to work on any project to

First I cut the desired amount of plastic from the box

Next I cut out the tint and left a 1" overlap

Then I double sided the laminated side and stuck the tint on face down (this leaves a reflective mirror finish) and trimmed the edges.

Voila instant mirror visor

Best of all this cost me £5 for just the tint (which technically I didn't pay for) ;)

Here's a before and after

With mesh

With lense

And the finished bio

"That's all folks!" Tune in next time when I make a working cloaking device out of a bin bag and some sticky back plastic
