ReevzFx Batman Mask Fix!? Help!

Hey people,

I just purchased a ReevzFx Arkham City mask off of ebay. The seller said there was a small tear near the eye (even with pictures I didn't think it was THAT big).

My question is, what would be the best way to fix this? I was thinking of just throwing a little gorilla glue on it...

Also...how in the hell am I supposed to get the neck piece over my head? I have a 23-24inch head (which this mask is supposed to accommodate) but with my semi-poofy hair, I just can't get it on.

Could try the glue you said but problem with uretahne is one it's damaged there's no going back it will be a on going issues

When glueing the damaged area add some fabric behind as well

Good advice. Super glue will seal it but ideally you want fabric reinforcement from behind. Keep in mind that super glue is not flexible. Urebond sticks real well to urethane but it quite expensive for a one off. I've heard Aquaseal is effective as well but have no experience with it myself.

For getting the cowl on - the rubber really like to grab your hair. So a little lube will help. Water, baby powder, water based lubricant will help reduce the friction. Just don't use petroleoum based lubricant like Vaseline. Also a lycra beanie helps. Or some guys will glue lycra right into the neck. Other than that its all technique. Inch it on rather than trying to get it on in one pull.

I use a small cap made out of panyhose to help get my cowl on. It works well and isn't as messy as baby powder or other things.

superglue worked well on mine. My reevzfx cowl was a bit too big, so my husband cut the strap down and glued it back together with superglue. The seam has held together with no problems.

Why don't you use liquid latex to seal it up, I mean wouldn't that be sufficient since the whole mask is made up of latex?

Thanks for the advice everyone! I think I'll use a bit of superglue (that part of the mask doesn't need to flex and stretch too much) with a tiny strip of cloth.

After that, it's on to working on my Arkham Origins inspired batsuit.

I bought a cowl from Reevz a few years back which arrived with air bubbles and thin spots. I was disappointed as I was a student at the time and saved for a long time to buy it and it really should have been discarded by the maker as a 2nd or 3rd rate casting. Shawn stopped replying to my emails once I received it so I had to fix it up myself.

I found a glue called Aquasure which is urenthane based and seemed to hold the urethane pretty well, it's made for repairing wetsuits. The glue is clear so I coloured it with some acrylic paint and it dried to a nice finish similar to the urethane. The bubbles are still filled and holding to this day and it's been a good few years.

I can't help on your repair portion, but to get on a his cowl I always rub baby powder on the inside. Even after having one for 3 years I still put a little on to get it over my head. Hope that helps.

Old post, but just found it now and have a question. After tearing my cowl around the mouth trying to get it on (with using water) I read people using spandex glued on the inside. My question is, if anyone has done this, what kind of glue they used. I assume a spray adhesive but what kind exactly works best to keep it flexible?

I reinforced my ReevzFX Hush cowl with fabric inside. And then glued together with superglue. Then coated my Hush cowl with plasti-dip. Had zero issues since. As for getting my cowls on, I use baby powder and wipe the excess off on the cowl with a damp paper towel or rag.

In addition to lubing up the cowl before putting it on, try wearing a wig cap or balaclava so it won't grab your hair.
