Red Hood Build

well, start with how much they cost to pull in material, then factor in how long they take, put a dollar amount on your time, and be careful not to undersell yourself, I took on a pepping project for a full suit and charged way too little for the amount of time and work I'm still putting into it.

Yeah, I think you are right. I'll work up something and see if its worth my time and if there is a vested interest.

Anyway, the model for Red Hood came over this afternoon and we worked up some of the suit. Please keep in mind the helmet is a crappy pull with a test paint job and the pants are all wrong, but the looks is what we are going for. We also have hand guards, boot plates and belt plates to fabricate also. Give me a bit of time and we'll get there.

We'll be going with a grey balaclava to match the shirt and the pants will be a very dark grey or black. We want to "pop" the helmet and this helmet has no lenses in it, so we still have to add those as well.

Anyway, wanted to post some updates.

Main two helmets are primed and awaiting a black out coat of paint tomorrow evening and then on to the red.

Thanks for the compliments guys. This is a novice job here, as I'm sure several members of the RPF could generate this helmet in half the time. However, I do appreciate the help and support. Anyway, on to tonight's update.

I put the first couple of coats of Cherry Red on one of the helmets after coating it in a couple of coats of plastic primer, then a coat of grey primer followed by a blackout of the inside. I've noticed a couple of areas I'll probably go back and sand out a bit, but overall, I'm VERY pleased with the color. Thanks for the Cherry Red suggestion by GeneralJuan in a previous post.

Very nice and ouch.

<--Suggested Cherry Red first. :D

Juan suggested candy apple red. :D

But it's all cool, I'm just giving you a hard time, it's looking great.

that is really fantastic. I like the traditional color also. cant wait to see more... and im still hoping you will chose to sell off a few of these ;)

Quick picture of the final piece. I may still go back and put a satin coat on this mask in order to take the shine down a bit. The lenses are only temporarily put in and I still have to pad this out a bit. Also, need to fill in a few spaces in the eyes with more black.

But........for all practical purposes...........its done.

We took a few shots tonight of the finished look minus the armor plates on the gloves, belt and boots. But, overall, we're pleased. Helmet turned out nice.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the support from this forum. I'll have a few more pictures once the armor plates are on the boots, gloves and belt.

I'll also do a detail shot of the helmet for anyone that wants to see it. If I do a run, I'll post in the FS section.
