Red dwarf is coming back

I'm the biggest RD fan but I think they should've just left it alone...especially after that last effort.:unsure

*LOVE* RD but I think you're right...

I'll still watch though of course. ;) If they get enough of the original behind the scenes guys back it could be good.

I dipped into it a few years ago and thought it was unwatchable. But that last thing on Dave, I may be alone, is was obviously horrible but it had little moments that I thought were really great.

I didn't see the last one but heard it was bad. Last season we had brought over on PBS was when the Dwarf was restored by the nano machines to its smaller configuration. If they do a reboot i'd like to see it more like the Red Dwarf novels that were written. I love RD and wouldn't mind it on again if it was done right by the original creators. they keep using the original cast it'll be like "Are you being served again?": well intentioned with a few chuckles but just not the same.

I tend to look at it this way...SOMETHING is better than nothing.

....and certainly there were some interesting moments past season 6....its not as unwatchable as some people think.

HOWEVER....hard to beat Season 3....

I thought the whole series was a lot of fun. But the last effort wasn't funny, what were they going for?

The Dwarf has sailed, give us something new to laugh at.

Oddly enough I just watched "Back to Earth" the other day and told several people that they should of just let the dead lay buried. 3 episodes and I hardly got a chuckle from it. I was a huge fan of the show and have seen all of the seasons but I too feel it's time to just let it go.

eh, I'll give it a shot. Should be good for a few laughs at least.
Slightly off topic, when I first described the show to my wife she thought it sounded like an awesome premise and great story.. then she heard comedy and stopped listening. :p
The old meanie butt. :lol
I'm actually watching Red Dwarf on Netflix now (because of this topic), It's all up from "The End" to "Back to Earth".

The early seasons of Red Dwarf were, IMHO, consistently hilarious and extremely cleverly written.

Then, as time went by ( And the partnership split ) the odd duff episode crept in, with the odd good moment in.

And by the end, it was the odd GOOD episode creeping into a run of duffers.

Shame, but look at it this way:
Nothing they do now can ruin the good episodes that DO exist ( The less said about "Remastering" the better. The proper versions are on DVD, so... ).
And if they're making new material, there's a chance it will be great.

If they don't make it, then there's NO chance.

Well said RS. I am a huge RD fan also, and if written properly could be great again.

BTW, if you want to see BAD, I mean REALLY, REALLY BAD, who hear actually saw the US Pilot for Red Dwarf?:sick

:sick

Ya... It was AWFUL. Just about as bad as it gets... The girl from Fraiser was Holly.

The US pilot for "The IT Crowd" was similarly bad.
