RED ALERT Lost 3 ft TOS Enterprise found????

No only one 3 footer.
I believe it was used to scale up to the 11 footer, which was not lit at first either now that I think about it.
So the voltages on the bottom may be evidence of planning to light the 11 footer, which didn't happen until later.
dear god, this is literally the very first enterprise. this dirty hunk of plastic could easily be worth 20 million dollars.

David Shaw did significant research and blueprinting of the model, but he seems to have been out of the hobby for several years, now. I’d love to hear his take, if he’s still out there.

This is either a really clever fake…or the real deal. There are a good number of tells that scream “real”, at first glance.

The past few years really have been a rollercoaster for fans of TREK props and models.

Well, would have made a helluva "Storage Wars" episode. LOL

Interesting that foil rainbow-ey shiny tape used here and there. On the impulse engines.

How great would it be if Shatner could hold her again????

That seller better go looking for that hanger bay door, if he still can do so.

The very first physical model of the Enterprise in its final form, after the concept sketches and crude models had been refined. The approval prototype used to give the greenlight on constructing the 11-foot model. The first model of the ship ever filmed. The first to ever appear onscreen (as least in early studio screenings of the pilot, as opposed to the first airing of “The Man Trap”). Used for numerous iconic publicity photos, and on the cover of the first printing of THE MAKING OF STAR TREK. Used in the main title sequence of every single TOS episode. Used as an on-set prop, in “Requiem For Methuselah”. And, finally, loaned out as reference for PHASE II/TMP, then seemingly lost or destroyed.

A priceless artifact.

Sad to see her in such a sorry state, but it’s absolutely stunning that she’s turned up at all.

Maybe we’ll see some kind of restoration, a la the 11-footer? Assuming that the model is seen again after this and/or there are no ongoing legal issues?

If it was a fake I don't think it would have popped up in an abscure eBay auction from a guy that buys/sells storage units and such. There would have been more effort put into creating a story and chain of custody and such.

Plus, whoever would know enough to fake this, would know enough that the model is most likely stolen and wouldn't want to fake something up publicly with a clouded ownership.

Now, another anonymous Phaser II with a "friend of the prop master" story behind it, that I can see happening (again?).

Surely it’s long since gone, since it was missing as far back as “Requiem For Methuselah”.

Seriously, what kind of clown world are we living in? Within weeks of each other, the Jein hero phaser sells for just over half of what a fake phaser sold for in 2021, the TOMY Enterprise model is mired in controversy, and the actual three-foot Enterprise (which is the same size as the TOMY) resurfaces after nearly 45 years.

A warp speed ride of craziness!

Ah, I didn't know it was missing that long. Never noticed that. Yeah, what next? When you think nothing more can go down involving TOS it does.

Unlike the infamous auction hero phaser, my gut reaction upon seeing this just now was “real”.

That didn’t stop my jaw from dropping.

Too many little details match up. And the auction suddenly popping up and then ending without any kind of major publicity does not scream “scam”.

I wonder what else might've been in that storage unit.

In all likelihood, this is a one-off quirk of fate. The model sat in Roddenberry’s office for years, and was then loaned out as reference for PHASE II. When that show morphed into TMP, either someone didn’t realize that it HAD been loaned, didn’t know its historical significance, or deliberately absconded with it. It could also have simply been forgotten about and placed in storage.
