Re: Hero X-Wing with machined armature (motorized)

Thanks guys !

Glad you like it ! :D

Ahah bro yeah, I will leave it like that for at least 2 months :p maybe I'll take a pic with the crawler on the background :lol

Re: Hero X-Wing with machined armature (motorized)

I think we need a big archive style pic of all your builds bro :lol Its nothing short of an SFX shop you have over there buddy!

Yeah bro, I'm the best to represent an ILM shop with a lot of models under construction ! :cool
Unfortunatly, I cant say the same about finished models... :lol

Re: Hero X-Wing with machined armature (motorized)

Yeah, but they look cooler under construction Julien :lol

Re: Hero X-Wing with machined armature (motorized)

That's true but even if I'm a bad painter, I enjoy painting so I would like to paint more models ! :lol
I'm tired of building and building :p

Re: Hero X-Wing with machined armature (motorized)

Your so not a bad painter bro, your ATST is like for like IMO to the prop, not any can do that!
Yeah id love to paint more lol, but im touch and go on GK right now having had my fingers burnt, and scratching stuff, wow ill forget what an airbrush was meant for :lol

Looking great Julien. Which bird are you building?

Well now I can tell which one :

Red 4, but it was easy to find since my pics are labbeled with the r4 tag :D
That's why I reproduce most of the pyro details... I think Red 4 is so beautiful that is worth to be a hero model, and Im building it !
Red 4 is IMHO the most beautiful X-Wing paintjob ever done ! I dont know if I will be able to do it right though cuz unlike Lee said, I'm not good at painting :p

Most excellent choice, Julien! You can call it "The Missing Hero." Can't wait to see what you do with the rest of this build. :)

Re: Hero X-Wing with machined armature (motorized)

Thanks Kevin, I cant wait to start to paint this one ! The "4" is my fav number, it alwais gives me luck ! So this one is quite special ;)
I would also build a Red 6 with red canopy in the future, but it will be a full pyro model !

Re: Hero X-Wing with machined armature (motorized)

Looking stellar, of course.

... So, is that vinyl tape for the panels on the Saturn halves going to be permanent? I'd be terrified of peeling it off accidentally during weathering, or having it peel off on it's own over time, or having paint adhesion problems.

Re: Hero X-Wing with machined armature (motorized)

Thanks Mike,

Those are good questions...

Im worried about paint adhesion (I already gave it a try since some of my panels on my engines are made out this vynil tape and they are primed). The adhesion of my primer is just fine ! And I dont even rub it with steel whool (it can be done prior to cut the panels). It wont peel off during wheathering because the coat of primer and base coat... they will seal the panels and protect them !
I'm more worried about peeling over time... Only time will give us an answer, I let you know in 2030 ! :lol But that's my biggest concern :unsure

Re: Hero X-Wing with machined armature (motorized)

I finally had 2 free days so I was able to go back on this one.
I was not happy with my first engines. It was the good time to correct my pattern and use the correct railing on it :)

I reworked the nose plug fitting.

I put the base coat but ran out of paint...

Re: Hero X-Wing with machined armature (motorized)

Probably the best bird I've seen!! And that TIE ball looks pretty sweet too :love

Re: Hero X-Wing with machined armature (motorized)

Love the rear engine upgrades, Julien. That correct u-boat railing really makes it look authentic. More please...
