Harry Anderson (RIP) swore that he owned one of the original Maltese Falcon props, which he obtained from the WB prop dept. while working on Night Court for NBC on the WB lot:

There is the resin one that was given to San Francisco restaurant owner of John's Grill by Elisha Cook Jr (the guy that was the gunman).
It was stolen a few years back.
Profiles in History also had a Resin one that is matched to the screen used.
You can tell the lead one (bent tail) in the film by the way Bogie carries it.
That article is the first I've ever heard of plaster birds.

According to the article it was sold an whereabouts is unknown.
When doing research for his run, MK saw one on display at the studio but wasn't allowed to take pix.

Even though props are still re-used in more modern movies, I think the best were the old time B flick and other oldies, they didn't have access to computer modeling, CGI, and 3D printers like now. A lot of the time they found some real world item and just used glue and fiberglass to make something,

My solid lead falcon (which might be the only one other than the original) weighs 47 pounds, if I remember correctly. I don't have it here to double check.

I almost fell off my chair when I saw the Indiana Jones' idol from "Raiders" in Dryden Vos' office ("Solo"). It also appeared in DS9.
I'm guessing the Resin casts are newer copies, back in the day Plaster was used for everything from making sets figures props and I kid you not taking Impressions of people's teeth!
