Re: My 1st attempt at a Pep costume.....SPACEMARINE

Re: My 1st attempt at a Pep costume.

Thanks all for the encouraging words .

To answer a couple of questions, I haven't got a chapter or Legion picked yet. I do have a few favs from both sides ie; Chaos and Imperial.

Plan is at this stage is to get it "skinned" and wearable first and then decide on a chapter/Legion.

Paper used is A4 200gsm paper, it is thicker than normal A4 printer paper but not too thick that it can't go through the printer.

Cheers,
Martin.

Re: My 1st attempt at a Pep costume.

I love the insane size of these builds. Clean work there too man, I like your method

Re: My 1st attempt at a Pep costume.

I love your idea to skin this rather then traditional finishing. I bet it helps keep the build lighter as well. I will have to put this trick in my toolbox for the future.

Excited to see more.

Re: My 1st attempt at a Pep costume.

Hey all, sorry for the lack of up-dates on this build.

Real life, family and commission projects have kept me from this.

But since I posted last I have been able to get a few things done.

Got the butt/cod section "skinned". No detail yet this will be done once I have decided on a chapter/Legion.

Made up inserts for the back of the knee and elbow areas. I used a non-slip rubber matting I found at the hardware store. I stuck 2 pieces on top of each other as the matting has holes in it.

Over at the Obscurus Crusade forums I was asked if I could show the scale of this.

Here's me in half the get up next to "Manny", he stands 6ft and the stand he's on is a inch and half high.

I tend to get distracted very easily, started cutting up foam and ended up with these.

Re: My 1st attempt at a Pep costume.

I needed to get some gloves to finish the arms off.

I purchased a pair of cricket gloves, didn't realize till I got them that one of the thumbs didn't have padding on it.

No worries.....where's my foam ? :)

IMG_3006.jpg

IMG_3003.jpg

I think the size of the glove is good.

IMG_3005.jpg

A little paint and some foam to "bulk" out the top of the hand.

IMG_3009.jpg

IMG_3008.jpg

Yep...I'm happy with the scale. :)

IMG_3010.jpg

Finished arms.

Re: My 1st attempt at a Pep costume.

wow, the difference from page 1 to page 3 is awesome. keep up the good work

Re: My 1st attempt at a Pep costume.

Great build here man, the foam is a pretty darn nifty idea!

And for the chapter, it has to be smurfs!

Re: My 1st attempt at a Pep costume.

Thanks for the kind words guys.

As for picking a chapter/Legion, I have one in mind now but I'll keep it to myself at the moment. :)

And no sorry ...wont be doing ultramarines (smurfs). :unsure

Ok..got some progress to share.

I had to rethink the split cod/butt idea, it wasn't working out the way I had hoped.

I joined the 2 halves back together...permanently. :love

Added the abs section to the cod/butt so it's all one piece.

IMG_3038.jpg

Told you before I get distracted easily...messed around with my soldering iron and added some detail to the legs and arms.

IMG_3042.jpg

Back on track...I finally got the pauldrons webbed and attached to the chest/back.
:D

Here is where I'm at with the build.

IMG_3037.jpg

Next to "Manny" for size comparison. :)

IMG_3034.jpg

IMG_3035.jpg

So I'll start "skinning" the chest and 2nd pauldron in the next day or two and start work on the backpack.

Cheers. :cool

Till next time..........................

Re: My 1st attempt at a Pep costume.

Thanks guys. :)

A quick up-date.

I ran out foam so until I go track some more down, I made a start on the backpack.

I've made a frame/shell out of posterboard that I'll cover in foam and detail.

IMG_3046.jpg

IMG_3045.jpg

I also added some detail to the belt and buckle.

Wow....no love for the Spacmarine....should have put Ironman in the title perhaps. :behave

Anyways....been busy on this, well when I get the free time that is. :unsure

Been working on the backpack.

The vents at the bottom of the pack.

Well now all the "skinning" is done I'm able to start detailing the heck out of this now. :cool

Stay tuned..................................

My mouth hit the floor ... amazing job so far. Can't wait to see the result of your paint job and the detailing.

So tempted myself to get the materials to make my own (Spacewolves of course) :D

Does anyone have a link to the location of the Space Marine pep files?

EDIT: Not to worry found them including the Bolter Pistol and Chainsword :)

Think I've got myself a little project to keep me busy for the last part of this year :D
