Ray Gun Show Off Thread!

Cool vehicle designs...are they custom scratch-built or actual kits?

Gorgeous office, tmax! Thanks for posting those pics! I really like your display sensibility.

Can I ask what is the blue-screened device under your desk?
That would be a vintage oscillator with guts ripped out and replaced with a LED bulb. It actually Glows green, my phone changes it to blue. I’m gonna use the guts for other builds. Some great parts in there.

I know this thread is mainly for created rayguns, but I finally got my hands on a great deal for two Hubley Atomic Disintegrators. Planning on only keeping one, but I want to clean them up, Any idea whats best to clean Nickel plated Zinc? Theres also some rust on the chambers i need to probably steel wool off. It actually says "keep piled" on them, which they clearly werent.

But man, THIS is the best raygun when i think of real raygun toys. big, chunky, heavy.

I would dissassemble and get it Re plated.
We have replating services here in our tiny town for car parts and firearms so I would imagine they would be pretty much everywhere. There are many kits online as well. I have the reverse kit, the one that adds corrosion for aging.

I did manage to clean a lot of the rust off. I'll have to replace the hammer, the one that was intact eventually did snap, so it was only a matter of time. The only thing that sucks about replacing it is you have to drill out the rivets holding the magazine together, though it should be easy to replace them with screws. I'll be putting the extra in the junkyard soon.

Such a cool retro ray gun!! Inspired me to make a model.. Did a few changes for aesthetics. Few missing bits to be added separately like knobs, wires, grill etc. Will put in a printed display with a dial. I'll post the model when done if anyone wants it!

I have a casting kicking around somewhere.

Thanks for the inspiration, Kylash! Finished the model of a modified Hubley. Stl files attached if anyone wants to play with it. I added some aluminium knobs and screws etc to customise mine. Also, Im guessing the scale. I made mine larger than I suspect it is but you could scale to any size of course. I think I should paint the knobs red now, too! Pic with alternate bits as well.

This is awesome! Would love to see that printed in resin.

I'll have to give it a try in resin myself! I believe there is actually a vintage plastic version from the Uk that had a spinning dial, but its even more rare than the original.
