Hello, RPF.
I'm new here, but I've been looking into creating my own Spiderman costume that is near the caliber of spideyplanet's and others like it. I don't have any experience in this stuff, but there's a first for everything, right?
I have ideas about what I want to do with the mask, shoes, and mainly the suit itself, as I've already spent a while over the past few weeks browsing the forums here. However, I don't want to spend a billion dollars on the same webs that spideyplanet uses, and I don't like the look of puff paint at all.
I went to the Michael's Craft store that is near my house and looked around for different materials I could use for the webbing. I found spools of leather strip which have good height if laid flat on a surface. The width is also pretty good. The only thing I think I should be worried about would be the stretch of it. The strips don't have much give, but I can't be sure if I should really worry about it. I can paint the tops to make them silver and get black strips to give them the 3D look.
My question is if anyone has thought to do this. I know it might take a bit more time, focus, and concentration, but I think it will work out better in the end. If I remember if I start this project I will do a sample on something first and post a picture and try to mess with it to test the sturdiness.
Thanks for reading.
