Raiders \ Lost Ark - Opening Seq. Map Discovery

Until now, there has been no solid evidence of anything on the map that Indy holds in the South American sequences - from about 2 min, 50 sec.

The map appears to be filthy and wrinkled enough that there is no way to say what may or may not have been on it, based solely on what we see in the film.

However, I would like to draw your attention to the lower right corner of the map, as seen in the following screen captures.

And, my hypothesis:

I believe we can see a capital "N" in that corner of the map.

If you look really closely there is an entire map with mountains and rivers (in blue) on it and that is an N for North that most people seem to think is something else since it is mostly seen from behind.
