R2-D2 Mark II Begins!!!

Funny that you posed this because I was looking at the newest SW Insider mag and they had a pic of Kenny Baker standing next to a partially built R2. I don't know if it was one that was used, but it had what looked like vacuuformed panels and a plastic dome sitting behind it. If you go purely for looks the all metal ones are just awesome from an engineering aspect, but I don't know how many screen used versions where built like tanks that way.

IMO I think if you have gadgets on it, like the periscope, claws, pop up lightsaber, etc. it looks way more cool than if it's all metal. The ones I've seen that have some of those things are way more cool than a metal version.

Yeah, I've come to believe this myself. Though I had to learn it the hard way: by building an all metal droid. Still, either way, having a driod (metal or not) is pretty cool no matter how hard you slice it.

Obviously, my Mark II is on hold. I've since moved to Ohio, and haven't brought the lil guy out here with me yet. Still on the fence about how to best handle it. But I will build the second one eventually. I want to do this one much more quickly. I'll try to get him done in a month, or something silly like that.
