Hi there,

These are probably obvious questions, but I'm trying to get some kit together for a project and i'm stuck on a few things concerning silicone rubber and resins.:cry

1) How do I clean my brushes between/after applying a layer of rubber onto my Mould?

2) How do I clean my brushes between/after applying a layer of resin into my Mould?

3) What materials for gloves and beakers should I use/avoid with liquid rubbers?

4) What materials for gloves and beakers should I used/avoid with resins?

thanks for any help!

1. don't bother. use $0.95 disposable brush
2. see previous answer.
3. latex gloves are $10/ 100 pair box. plastic or paper mixing cups work fine. Plastic is reusable.
4. see answer #3

Wouldn't paper cups damage/react with the resin?I'm all for throwing brushes away, it's easier, but is there any safe way to clean them or the beakers?

Paper cups and buckets are most idea and do not react with molding/casting materials. You do not want to spend any amount of time cleaning out mixing vessles. You should be measuring with weight, not volume anyway. Pick up a $20 digital kitchen scale.

Paper products have a moisture content to them. They CAN react to the resins and produce microbubbles under your castings' surface. I use some mixing cups I got from TAP Plastics and the resin just pops out of them when it sets up.
