Questions About Bond Films that You Have been Afraid to Ask SPOILERS

Another point about CR - Le Chiffre is clearly desperate to raise the "one hundred and one million, two hundred and six thousand dollars" he lost.

Clearly, Le Chiffre must win the money back lest he suffer Obanno's wrath, and also, he must repair his relationship with Quantum.

But when Bond kills Obanno, and asks Mathis dispose of the bodies, Mathis instead displays them before Le Chiffre - a move applauded by Bond who says that this will surely keep Le Chiffre looking behind his shoulder to wonder who is coming for him next.

But doesn't this almost serve as an out for Le Chiffre and the organization? The only thing I can think of is that Le Chiffre would still owe the money to the next leader of the Lord's Resistance Army, and he still needs to prove to Quantum he could raise the money again. I am curious what you guys think.

I took it as a suggestion that some higher power (Bond doesn't know about Quantum yet but has an idea that Le Chiffre is working for someone big) is giving him one last chance to get the money back. That way when he loses he'll be more likely to take a deal for protection.

Lemme see if I can remember the right order:

Casino Royale
Live and Let Die
Moonraker
Diamonds are Forever
From Russia with Love
Doctor No
Goldfinger
For Your Eyes Only*
Thunderball
The Spy Who Loved Me
On Her Majesty's Secret Service
You Only Live Twice
The Man with the Golden Gun
Octopussy & The Living Daylights

*- Short stories: From A View to a Kill, FYEO, QOS, Risico, The Hildebrand Rarity
Awsome Thanks MB! :thumbsup I had kind of assumed the film order matched the book order, way off! :lol

Psh had a total brain fart and said Dr. No was first. For some strange reason I read it as the movie, and aswered affirmatively. Casino Royale is one of my favorite books too. Need more sleep.

Thanks, I want to read the 1st one 1st!
Wikipedia is your friend.

There are references in the movies that are out of sequence due to their book chronology. E. G. The Beretta "jammed on you, and you spent six months in hospital" refers go the end of FRWL (novel), and Bond telling Leiter, "well they got a lot closer to you in Jamaica, didn't they" I think refers to Leiter's shark tank encounter in LALD (novel) iirc.

Watched CR again last night in prep for watching SKYFALL. Cant believe the high rating on Rotten Tomatoes....

Anyway, after Obanno pays his visit to Chiffre and his gf at the hotel, she starts wearing her hair covering her left eye. I don't see any evidence of violence. I don't see any allusion to a card face. (All the queens on my Bicycle deck show both eyes.) Ideas?

I also noticed when Dryden is riding the elevator up to his office, the floor numbers count 3, 4, 5, 6, and then we cut to him... presumably on the 7th floor. ;)

Incidentally, I wore my Kingston to our SCCA region annual dinner last night, and got called up for a door prize. Among many choices on the table (most worth more) I couldn't resist this....

I had been under the assumption that after Obanno left Le Chiffre beat her. I could be wrong though.

'Twas a nice touch. :thumbsup

Nice!

I didnt think there was time..... Maybe something was cut.

Saw SKYFALL last night. Wow. Still processing. One thing I really like is that Mendes paced it slower, allowing suspenseful buildups. In some places, perhaps too much. Not sure about the tidy ending.

But.... More than makes up for the hodge podge of QOS.

Possibly. But it seems that between Bond's fight and then clean up there would have been plenty of time for a good smack or two. "Why the hell didn't you warn me?" *Smack* "Now clean up, we're going back".

It's great. :) I loved the ending if only for the fact that they're back at UE where they belong! Really like Ralph as M.

I did like QOS although it certainly suffered in some regards.

Ugh this is frustrating. Something like 7 or 8 years ago, I joined a Bond forum and there was a great thread about invented (non chronological) Bond Marathon orders. They had some awesome logical groupings to the movies, like order them by the Bond actors' real age, by SPECTRE plot, by Book order, etc. I cannot find the thread because I forgot which forum it was.

This was a recent thread I saw over at MI6 that was almost exactly like it:

Create a Bond Movie Marathon Order (other than chronologically) - MI6 Community

Really liked this perspective, thanks Mike.

I like what Mr. White says to Le Chiffre before he clips him, 'Money is not as important to us as who to trust', something along those lines.

Anyone have an idea why Dominic Greene would hire someone to kill Camille instead of just doing it himself and throwing her overboard like the geologist?

Plot demanded it. :lol

There are a lot of points in the films where you sit there and think "just shoot him/her!"

Zorin would have won if he shot Bond & Stacy at city hall before setting it on fire for instance. No fuss no muss. But NO! He must be dramatic about it! :lol
