Questions About Bond Films that You Have been Afraid to Ask SPOILERS

It took me a week to finish Casino Royale (1967) version :cry.
It was really, really, really BAD.

However, I did pick up something:
1. Le Chiffe, Vesper, Mathis in it. Vesper did double cross. If I watched this CR before DC's CR, it'll ruin the surprise :confused
2. Saw women in gold paint
3. Mata Bond (Joanna Pettet) look like Tracy (Diana Rigg).
4. Oh yeah, some belly dance scene too :thumbsup (well, not necessarily belly)
5. The actual name for the guy that played Q is Geoffrey.
6. Now I know where the fembot ideas is coming from :lol
7. I don't play Baccarat, but what is it about showing the same card again and again? 3 and 2? Can somebody do explanation?

After watching so many Bond movies, I realized something:
Most (if not all) Bond movies are using bits and pieces from older movies (except Dr No). It's like creating something new from old bits and pieces.

On separate topic, Maud Adams played two different roles of Bond girl, WTH?

Isn't the 1967 CR a Woody Allen spoof? I haven't seen it because I didn't think it was a real Bond movie (and I can't stand WA):confused

Yup, that's the one.
About the same as YOLT. The best thing is the soundtrack (Burt and the tijuana brass were very good).
Only this time, no ninjas in the volcano. Bath scene with Ursula Andress sucks, the other bath scene is the same.

Yes. It is not cannon.

The studio owned the rights to CR and figured they'd use it before the lost them. What we got was that heap of steaming crap. :lol

To an extent yes. I'd say each film after Goldfinger though. Dr. No, FRWL, and GF are all pretty original and don't carry much over aside from some storyline and characters.

On separate topic, Maud Adams played two different roles of Bond girl, WTH?

Yep. And one of the gypsy girls in FRWL was Paula in Thunderball. The story with Maud is that Broccoli thought she was leading lady material based on her work in TMWTGG and then cast her as such a few films later.

Yeah, that main theme is terrific! Catchy and whimsical.

However, they play it over and over and over and OVER. Guy gets out of a car and walks into a building: main theme. Ooh, whimsy! ;)

I used to like "The Look of Love" but now it sounds terribly dated to me.

Still like "Never fear Bond is here!" though! :lol

Same thing happened in Dr. No where the theme song were played extensively. I thought that was a hype back then.

Yeah, Dr No, FRWL and GF were original.

I loved "the look of love" Austin Powers version. Burt also played "what the world needs now is love". :thumbsup

So. A comment in another thread makes me want to know this from everyone...

If you were to rank all the canon Bond films (no WA Casino Royale and no NSNA) from most favourite to least favourite what would be your top 5 and your bottom 5?

My top 5:

- GF
- FRWL
- SF
- CR
- OHMSS

My bottom 5:

- AVTAK
- DAF
- MR
- DAD
- TWINE

Hm... let's see top 5
1. TND
2. GE
3. TSWLM
4. TLD
5. GF

Bottom 5
1. AVTAK
2. YOLT
3. FYEO
4. LALD
5. CR (plus QoS)

1 being the best or the worst.
I put GF because I thought I had to squeeze in Connery somewhere.

WOAH... CR LAST???

Wow.

No, AVTAK is the last.
No offense for Bond lovers.
I can give you my perspective on why if needed.

Lol. No need to justify to me. Your personal preferences are yours and yours alone.

They just astonish me. :lol

Would love to hear why though if you'd like to share!

On CR? IMHO:
1. Probably I got disappointed because PB is being replaced.
2. My friends were amazed by parkour (at that time not a lot of exposure), but I watched B-13, and find it CR is rather boring.
3. What a waste of using DB5 and DBS.
4. Recovery scene is a bit odd.
5. Character came in too strong, I was not really prepared to see Bond that rough. I didn't read the novel, and I was grew up with Moore type of Bond. Dalton came with pretty strong (read: darker), and the reaction was somewhat negative. But now since I gain more knowledge of Bond, SC is more likeable :p.
6. Not a fan of reboot, but I like to story when everything is at the beginning.
7. The bad guy La Chieffe, is not really a major bad guy. More like an "ordinary" bad guy. Always thought Bond will face a major maniac with world domination dream.

Moore type of Bond

I'm beginning to see where the disconnect between us is... :lol

PB had 1 1/2 good ones, Moore had about the same. (All IMHO of course)

There are two Bond lineages, SC and RM.

The Connery line has: SC, GL, TD, DC

The RM line is RM & PB... Hell, you could throw David Niven, Peter Sellers, and Woody Allen in there too. :lol

I knew you would say that!!!!!

I grow to like SC line more, after our lines has been crossed ever since.
Growing up with RM, it is quite hard to accept SC lineage.
Watching DC and the beginning of Bond (reboot/DC), made my acceptance easier.

But I still stand on my top 5 and bottom 5.
I like P99 better than PPK.
Vanquish over ...... oh no, my license is gonna be revoked, and killed on the way home.

I love the way you put it: two lineage of Bond. Spot on!!!

Thank you for letting me seeing the path M.

BTW, "what's left of me..." in CR, does it mean that Bond now have only one ****, instead of two? :confused

REVOKED FOR EVEN THINKING IT!!! :lol:thumbsup

To be honest it would not surprise me in the least! :lol

In the film I'm surprised he snapped to sexual attention as quick as he did. That beating his balls took would keep any normal man out of action for a year! :eek

Yeah, that made me laugh too.
No amount of ball smashing can slow Bond down. :lol
He's a tank.

I was thinking, why he talkes in normal tone after the smash.
He should sounded like after inhale helium (high pitched voice)....:lol
