Question about shoes

ok my last costume I was not able to get the feet/shoes how i wanted so i ended up hot gluing foam core to a boot to make it alittle beefier but I wont want to destroy a pair of shoes with every costume.
My question is how are you making the shoes for your costumes and attaching them so that they do just "flop around"

on the note of attaching parts how have you all attached upper arm armor besides Velcro or tape?

Which costume are you referring to? It's a little bit different with each costume. Some costumes have specific shoes that are made for them, such as Stormtroopers, and others have a shell that you attach to the outside of a shoe, like Iron Man.
