QMX New Releases: Trek, Stargate, DW, WH13 PICS PG.2

and paint was coming off the hinges

Paint wear on the hinges is inevitable, you can clearly see it wearing on the screen captures of the real one, so IMO it's pretty much authentic true to the original weathering and doesn't bother me at all... The scratch on the lens is unfortunate though...

An important thing to note is that all of the original Farnsworths had the paint worn off the hinges, it's a foregone result of how the cases are designed, even the anodizing wears off.

so who's gonna be first with a lighting kit for this? the red light for sure, but I'd like a better screen as well

better screen = light up picture vs. blank black.

Did everyone else have to rebuild thier "crates" ?

may have been the effect of mailing cross country, but my box arrived in pieces that had to be hot glued back together.

the first time I tried to clean the big lens, I accidentailly pushed it into the box. I had to dissassemble the darn thing to put it back in place. The good news is that the lens should be easy enough to swap out when something better comes along. The bad news is that it was so poorly anchored in place to begin with. (double stick foam? Really?)

When you said better screens I thought you were referring to shape and colour, which is 100% accurate on these. The actual hero props have, and were meant to have black screens.

I think what people are missing is that this is an artisan replica of the actual prop, not an idealized version with lights and sound and pictures in screen.

Here's some pics folks!

Regarding the black push button. QMX states that it is a casting. Is the black button portion the casting and the base is metal, or is the entire thing cast?

thanks!

I had to rebuild my crate as well. How easy/hard was it to take apart?

PS They are now out of stock!

Must be a reflection on the screen... it looks like it's loose from the faceplate or set back causing a gap along the edges. Nice weathering on the faceplate.

Edit: Never mind.
:rolleyes

it was really easy to open it up. just one hex bolt on the back. You'll need a wee allen wrench, but once you take out the bolt, you can remove the whole works nice and clean

Isn't this an exact replica of the screen used prop? Quote from QMx:

"The show's propmaster personally reviewed and approved this replica, certifying it as an exact re-creation of the hero prop used in Season One".

It may not be true in all cases of prop replica companies saying such things, but in this case it is indeed true. The QMx replica was inspected and approved by the show's prop master as a completely accurate replica.
