QMX New Releases: Trek, Stargate, DW, WH13 PICS PG.2

I was able to snap a few quick pics of QMx's pieces on Sunday. Wish I could have done more and got pics outside of their display cases as I did with the other licensees, but they were just too busy.

If we didn't have threads like this, then we wouldn't be getting the options we have opening up. So far we have two companies/people striving to put out the most accurate and competetively priced Tennant sonic with various FX and a River Song, Eleventh Doc and Masters laser on the drawing board. We as fans of the series are in the best position we have been in for years. I like the facts that have been presented, it has made me more knowledgable on the subject, made accepted theories thrown out, and made a 100% accurate sonic a thing that is only just around the corner off CT and behind that another option and future products possible from both.

Hear, hear. :thumbsup

I would be quite stupified if they kept the sonic in the $200-$300 range. Any deadlines given? Where would these be purchased through? I take it they are not US based? Why is that? So do they have a license to do these? I know that was a huge issue with the MFX ones. Nobody on the RPF would consider doing a run of these and still won't! Russel Replicas who made the MFX won't even do it!

We don't need every thread with a sonic screwdriver to turn into this same old argument. There was one thread, it should have stayed there, but now any thread related to a sonic screwdriver seems to get bogged down in the same old argument. If you want to talk about the products, talk about the products but keep the people behind them, their personalities out of it. As I've said, that thread has already been made.

This thread is about more than the sonic and already it's bogged down with the whole CT thing. If people want to *****, go make a thread in the 'Off topic' section and kindly keep it there or let the damn subject rest so that everyone else can read the forums with some enjoyment and not have to wade through this crap thread after thread.

I've mostly been keeping out of this, but I'm just fed up seeing the same old argument. It's become a viscous circle.

(By the way, not aiming this at you, Asp, but saying in general, it's time to let it go. Just talk products and not people, this is, after all, the Replica fourm, not the Personality forum.)

So let's move on then! But I'm sure there will be a number of comparisions between MFX and CT's sonics and this one though, which I think is okay if we can keep it civil.
Anyone have answers to my questions asked above?

Any deadlines given?
Not that I have seen

Where would these be purchased through?
Quantum Mechanix

I take it they are not US based? Why is that?
Yes they are US based.
So do they have a license to do these?
Yes they do have a license.

I would not, They are made in China substantially reducing the cost to produce them. Lets face it, the Sonic is not a whole lot different than the $45.00 Light sabers MR was doing. Put the program in the CNC and let them go.

I know I will be getting one, I just hope they make a Signature edition (Hint number two QMX :lol).

The sonic is neat and all, but I can't wait to find out more about the pricing/release date for the Zats!

Me too, I'm just hoping that it will be, relatively, cheap at around $500 or under, much more than that I doubt I could afford it as $500 would be pushing it as is. It would be nice if they did a tiered pricing based on the number of pre-orders they get, the more pre-orders the lower the price goes; it sounds like a lot to do but it's been done before with the release of the original remastered Macross DVD box set where they got so many pre-orders that they dropped the price to below what was to be the lowest price point possible.

This was how the Macross DVDs were priced:

# of orders $ per set
0000 - 1999 $300.00
2000 - 2999 $290.00
3000 - 3999 $280.00
4000 - 4999 $270.00
5000+ $260.00

Something like this would be awesome for the zat; from the base price have it drop by $10 - $20 for every several hundred or so orders. Of course it their initial base price is like $1,000 I don't think it would ever drop to significantly below that mark even with a tiered price plan.

I'm totally happy with them planning to offer the Abrams Trek items for around $50 each. Having a stunt phaser to play with that is inexpensive enough to not worry about damaging or replacing is going to rock!

I don't know if this is the best example as you can get those DVDs for dirt cheap now I believe.

Anyway, was there any mention of the price for the Viper?

Well, he obviously does get quite a few customers. Who would rather have a good product from a guy that delivers, although is a bit colourful with language and defends his 'ground' so to speak rather aggresively, rather than a bad product, from a guy who has repeatedly lied to his customers. But words his arguements more politely.

I wouldn't and will never buy from him. My loss, but so what.

I thought this was going to stop, but everytime I look, someone else posts something. This thread was supposed to be about new products coming out, not about what people think of someone or their business practices.

Back on target.

This was for the set that was originally released by AnimEigo and the box set is long out of production now, I know that ADV did get the rights to Macross down the line but I don't think they ever released them as a complete box set. Anyhow, it's just an example and the figures represented aren't really meant to be taken literally since they apply for those DVDs, I'd just like to see something similar for the zats (or any other licensed prop for that matter where they lower the price as they get more pre-orders.

Hi everyone,
I wanted to jump on here and say thank you to everyone for all the kind words about the ZAT I'm doing for Qmx. I was very excited to be able to produce something that so many of you have been wanting for such a long time. I know this has been attempted before and everyone did a fantastic job with their own work. For me, this is one of my favorite weapons and I wanted to do recreate it exactly as the original. I must say that this project has not only been a challenge but extremely fun to do. I won't discuss pricing here because that's not my place but... I want everyone to understand a couple of things. Anyone that purchases this piece will be getting a prop that no company has ever done before and that's one of the reasons why I don't want to call this a replica. First, what you will get is exactly what was used on the show but with some added features.... professional circuit board, full studio sound files and lights. Second, this is not someting being made in China.... I will be making these personally for you. I'm a special effects weapons and movie prop maker in the film industry so your getting a prop from an actual motion picture prop maker. Some of my current work includes: Caprica, Fringe, A-Team, and Caesar: Rise of the Apes. I also wanted to mention that I have completed the new circuit board and currently working on a lights system that will be just as amazing as the prop itself. There is a lot more to this project that I'm looking at doing but...... that's something you'll have to wait and see when its released. I also saw someone asked how they can purchase one. This is an exclusive Qmx run. For anyone going to Dragon Con this year, stop by the Qmx booth and take a look at the final version of the ZAT. I'll be there to answer any questions you all may have. As for more videos of the ZAT, I'll be sending more over to Qmx and we'll see if they can post anotherone on the net.

Thanks again everyone for all the kind words.... it means a lot and I appreciate it.

This sounds if the quality of the piece will be of very high level. I hope QMX will be doing it on a payment plan as the higher the quality the higher the price and I'm beginning to dread how much this will cost me.

I'm really looking forward to the Zat and it sounds like it is going to be really nice.
