Pulse Rifle - Display

Hey Everyone,

So I woke up this morning inspired to build a display for my Aliens Pulse Rifle. I sat down, made some notes, took some measurements, and headed to Home Depot. I love that store. LOL. But as fate would have it, my idea evolved further once I made a full lap and saw some new possibilities!

Anyway, I'm rock'n this new project, feel inspired and thought some of you might like to see how it goes!

Started with this schematic:

Came home with this stuff:

Flat Black Paint
Flat White Paint
Camo Dark Flat Forest Green Paint
3in heavy duty corner brackets (4)
2in x 24in Reflective Black/Yellow Tape
2in Stencils (Letters and Numbers)
6.5in Track Brackets (2)
12in Wall Tracks (2)
2x4 MDF Panel (cut to 24/36)
36in x 1.5 flat boards (4)
Box of 1 1/4 Construction Screws

Time to get to work!!

You have my attention big buddy, make us proud and show us how its done, looking forward to seeing this......awesome.....

Nice rifle...new member..haven't seen it before looks great..looking forward to your finished display!:popcorn

Thanks guys!! Ray - welcome to the community!

When I get inspired to do a project, it's almost always a fun experience! I laid everything out for mock up and then marked which pieces were to be painted which colors and even though it's only 40 degrees here today, I went out and got started!!

Here's a bit of the painting:

I figure 2 good coats should be enough. But since it's so cool today, I've got the parts drying inside. I'll hopefully get the second coat on before I loose daylight today.

Thanks Andrew!

So here's what I bought the stencils for:

Sorry about the flash reflection on the table. Once I get the color coats on the back board, I'll mask off a couple locations and hit the stencils in white.

:thumbsup

Looking forward to seeing how this turns out! I'll have to come up with a nice display as well once I get my rifle going :love

You're welcome. Not a big deal with the flash. The tables grain breaks it up nicely. This is making me want to build a display. Maybe even have a box of M-40 Grenades off center on the base.

Ooooooooooooooooooo................

LOL!! Just wait until the lettering is in whiate and it's on the black back drop!!

Think I'm going to have to let the pieces dry over night. The cold weather is slowing the drying process and I don't want to end up with runs that need to be sanded out. In the mean time, I have a piece that I need to consider lighting up!! LOL!!

That's not even fair now. That is a nice piece. Are you thinking of making a solid light on it or a strobe?

:lol Thanks!!

I can't take credit for making the ALIENS plaque, it's actually the artists proof though!!

I would prefer to have a constant backlit light. I'm working on how I'm going to work that in now that I know where I want the plate to be positioned. What I really want though is to find some LED strips that are flat and don't get hot so that I don't have to really build a box around the plate to contain the light that's diffused.

I will send you an email tomorrow with pics, if you like tomorrow with some ideas, if you want.....:cool
