Prosthetics in your hair, how do you do it?

I'm wanting to do a generic Terminator costume for this Halloween, I have latex prosthetics I made myself and one of them is to be placed where there is hair.

Now, short of shaving the area, how do I put the prosthetic on and make it look cleanly placed?

A few years ago, Brent Spiner was a guest at a small convention here and during a Q&A session I had asked a similar question about the prothesis being used for his Data charcacter. He had said the make-up artists used a gel on his hair before applying the prothesis.

From Tom Savini's GRANDE ILLUSIONS:

Soaping out involves taking a soggy bar of soap and alternately slicking down the hair, drying it until the hair is flat, conforming it to the scalp.

Can be done with small patches or the entire head.

Soaping is a technique the legendary Dick Smith recommended as well, though his technique was a bit different, IIRC. He said to take a bar of softer soap (such as Ivory), and "comb" it over the area to be blocked out. As the soap built up, the area would become "balder".
