PropShop announces TFA Props!

Are you referring to the original Master Replicas or whatever this one from June 2016 was? It's pretty bad when a company says to come back for an announcement in a few months but there still is no announcement 5 months later.

Master Replicas the prop replica company is not coming back. I promise you that is the truth.

The thing with Prop Shop is that they announced their props to be made by professionals and to be just like screen used, but in the end there were quite many accuracy problems with those very expensive props.

I think some guys will be very angry when Disney is sending the files to Anovos and they would make a 500$ Melted Vader helmet.:eek

I would laugh as well but the guys who bought the Propshop props are in no danger. Their purchases are now even more valuable and there is always a richer person looking for something rare to make them feel special so they could sell it for a fortune and buy the new Anovos version.

It works great for everyone.

The guy who came out on here shortly after prop shop was announced that sculpted the Kylo Ren helmet stated that both Anovos and Prop Shop had the same files for printing the helmet, but specified that some changes/modifications were made to the KR helmet for filming, so they're not 100% identical to the screen used helmets.

It could be surmised that based off that information it wouldn't be unlikely this applied to the other items, like the TFA TK helmet or Ray's staff, which was re-sized scan of the original staff prop initially.

Well, not quite true. I was told, Prop shop and Anovos both Scanned their own data, from a screen used helmet. I believe the issue that was brought up was, the original for the film helmet was not digitally created and provided by Propshop, which was what Propshop was telling people.

That's essentially what I said, they're using the same data...

"The 3D printed helmet replicas they are selling ARE based on 3D scan data from our hero stuff, but they're not the original files or 3D print stls. I can't speak for the vader print or the sabers, they probably ARE based on original stl files, but I know for a fact that the helmets we printed were done by a different company to propshop so they never had our stl files. I don't believe their $2000 helmet will be any more accurate than the ANOVOS one, they're both basing their replicas on exactly the same scan data."

Well essentially, they did not use the same Files, they each made their own scans, (perhaps of different helmets) so they each used there own data. Also, they scanned the screen used helmets, so modifications made to originals were recorded, at least by Anovos, who also used images from screen used helmets to verify their details. Also, keep in mind, given there where likely 4 to 6 "hero" helmets used for the film, no replica would be 100% accurate, given the differences from one screen used helmet to the next.

That's a pretty definitive statement, which clearly states both PropShop and Anovos are using the same "scan data." To me, that either means they both used the same exact hero helmet that was provided for this purpose OR it was scan data that existed prior by the production.

I have confirmed with ANOVOS that their scans are the same as the Prop Shop but won't be 3D printed which is great and should make the ANOVOS helmet last longer if all the "rumors" of the Prop Shop 3D printing mistakes turn out to be true.

There's a member earlier in this thread that stated his kylo Ren helmet is indeed not a direct 3d print but a cast helmet. This would contradict prop shop's advertisements. I think I remember in the video tour that was done right before they went under the guy explained that the chrome details are the only 3d printed parts on the helmet

Ok, perhaps we were given misinformation when we built the prototype helmets for Anovos (The one pictured on their sites)
