PropShop announces TFA Props!

Oh i miss Master Replicas soooo much :(

First the desaster with eFX (not coming through with anything). Now some folks who think they can play Wall Street with prop replicas....

I want my MR back. Good Quality and reasonable prices.

You can have a direct copy from Brian Muir for 900 british pounds. That shows how stupid this prices from propshop are!

Yes. That's true. But the Prop Shop is talking about screen accuracy, as in you can swap their replica for the actual movie prop, and nary a person would really notice. ...allegedly.

Brian Muir's Ultimate Vader isn't screen accurate - it's reworked backwards from a ROTJ helmet. It's a nice lid for sure, and you're getting the provenance that it was made/sculpted by Brian - which makes it a wonderful collectible as it is. ...and I would love it if the Rogue One Vader lid looked very much like his Ultimate Vader helmet. :)

At those prices I'm grateful they're just TFA props, wouldn't be interested if they gave them away.

My sentiments exactly. ...if they start kicking out highly screen accurate OT props I crave, at those prices, I might have to go into my backyard and chop down a tree...

I know that...but did they not used his UV helmet in Rogue One?I´ve heared that.:confused

Wow. I was expecting these to be expensive but this is ridiculous. I don't know how they rationalize these prices. In "the Star Wars show" video they said they were "made to order" so maybe that has something to do with the price? Not being mass produced or something.
I'm trying to rationalize it somehow and I just can't.

If what they video's are saying is true - the people who made the originals, or at least the same prop shop - is making these. OK, that explains a bit, but not 1500 for a graflex when all is said and done.

I don't think the same thing is possible for the OT props because i'm not sure any of the pieces left are exactly as they were on screen and the people who worked the shop at the time aren't likely to come back and start kicking them out. Plus, nearly all the current stuff started out as 3D models making it real easy to keep cranking them out if necessary.

I can only imagine what they'd want for bang on F-11D. 2500?

But i guess this is the same thing as getting the Dr Who Sonic from the original makers for what was it? 7k? If a sonic was 7k - these aren't that far out of line with that. But i think they made a very smal number. Much smaller than these.

Kinda wonder about the import fees. I order a jacket from wested and that fee was 26 bucks i think (on a 250 dollar item) - so at 10ish percent, that'd be an extra 125 import fee on the sabers, plus shipping.

Similar that both are shops offering props to the public as they were provided for the productions. They differ when it comes to pricing and what kind of prop you're getting.

Rubbertoe is charging approximately $1100ish for a handmade, machined metal, fully hero (light and sound) sonic screwdriver that is identical (apart from sound) to the hero units used on the show, in a small edition. Other non-working props on offer are created from original masters (and molds? not sure) and finished just the same as the props on screen, for significantly less than that.

Propshop is charging more than that for printed and hand-finished props (and in the case of the Graflex, seemingly a replica base unlike what the movie used), and forgoing opportunities to do the versions of the originals with working features (lights on the bowcaster, chin piece movement on the Ren helmet). Some are quite a bit larger than a sonic screwdriver, sure. They'll also seemingly be done in larger quantities.

Of course, Star Wars is much broader in appeal and so you will be paying that tax as well. But the comparison makes Rubbertoe look a bargain.

I have the number 4 UV helmet from Brian and just wanted to clear up that it is derived from an original ESB not ROTJ.

Hi Panaflex, I know you have one. You actually need to post some GOOD pics of the lid. I'm dying to see a good photo this thing. :)

I can only go by what it says on Brian's website - aka, ROTJ. ;)

And the dome stripe looks a little....wide and thick, and the chin vent a wee bit little. But that's picking nits. I still think it has the potential to be a very good helmet - just haven't seen a real good photo of it yet.

I stand corrected. Thank-you.
It's ANH>ROTJ>ANH.

This photo session has been on my list for months but I've been slammed working on various productions.
I intend to post as soon as possible.

These prices are an insult to the hobby. Really there is no caring for the fans, just blatant taking advantage of us geeks. Most will speak with their wallets though. If this is the way of the future then I'm out of collecting liscenced props.

Took my daughter up to the new Wizarding World of Harry Potter - she wanted a wand so we went to the Olivanders shop and the plastic wands were $50 each - these prices seem crazy to me.
