Yes, the caged pommel is a hard plastic. The emitters, t-head and main body feel like aluminum though.
Alright, my replacement Kylo Ren saber came in today and this one looks a million times better!! R.I.P "Blue Kylo"

thank you for confirming. there was a lot of us wondering if the cage was printed or aluminum. i seriously appreciate it.
There's not a company out there who hasn't shipped a wrong or unfinished or defective item. Period.
You're basically saying they shouldn't be commended for handling a return well because they should never ship something less than perfect. Mistakes happen.
No. I am not saying that at all. This is why I avoid Social Media.
I was just saying a company that fixes a basic common mistake is great and as it should be. I was saying it's sad we are all so excited that a Licensee of Star Wars did the most basic thing because we are having such bad CS from so many others.
That's all I meant.
I could be totally wrong on this but the part felt too round and when I flicked it didn't feel like alum like the rest of it. Here is a pic of my unfinished one so you can see the texture. Ill double check the new one when I get home.

It can be more difficult to determine if something is metal when it's a lighter cast metal. Machined metal is denser and easier to identify. I'm not saying it's impossible that propshop made some pommels in metal and then switched to plastic at some point. But I think it's unlikely.
yeah I checked my new one and cant tell. I remember speaking with the propshop guys at comic con this year and they mentioned that some of the parts were vacuumed metalized, which might be the case for the "claw" but not sure. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I could test it? Magnets?
