Props lost or destroyed

The childcatchers cart from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was lying outside rotting at Pinewood in the 80's,so presume it will be gone now.

I remember reading a few years ago that most of Hill Valley burned down in a fire. That would be the largest prop loss ever.

All of the jaws sharks are rotting away in junkyards. As far as I know that last surviving shark from jaws the revenge was on display at UF but was removed years ago because of how bad it looked. It was hauled off to the dump also. From what I heard, the jaws 3D sharks were left at Seaworld Orlando and then later disposed of by them. Junkyard Bruce is the only surviving shark from the Bruce mold, as far as I know it had no screen time and don't think it was used in any rides either. Both Orcas have rotted away like was stated earlier.

Various movie sets have unfortunately burned.

The town built for Silverado was burned down by the pyrotechnics from the production of Wild Wild West.

Talking about classic stuff:

The original Aston Martin from Goldfinger was stolen in 1997 from an airport hangar and is missing since :-/

Knowing how many people in this world just plain suck I bet it was chop shopped for parts instead of swiped by a fan with criminal leanings.

Any of the hero props and costumes from Smallville that didn't go to Warner Brothers' archives or the WB museum went into an incinerator.

The cabin from Legends of the Fall was built on the Morley Indian Reserve west of Calgary. A few years later, some band members tried to light a fire in the fireplace inside the cabin - which was not a real working fireplace - and they burned the whole damn thing down.

There was a big set sale in Vancouver when the show wrapped, at which a lot of the lesser pieces were sold. I think a few hero items were also in there as I remember someone offering some lead character pieces for sale.

I worked on the show, and went to the sale. Nothing really recognizable or iconic was sold. There were a number of things that I wanted to get my hands on, but none of it was available. Justin couldn't even get one of the Green Arrow suits.

That stinks. You mean the big loghome or something else? I always wondered where all the props from Legends of the Fall went, such as Tristan's knife.

JABBA Sand Barge, is buried right in front of "Competition Hill" right where it was filmed.

It was mostly MDF, and I doubt its nothing but a section of MUSH in the sand.

I just listed this down in the junkyard on this site for sale but there is a little more than mush left :cheers

almost a 4 foot section of Jabba's Barge recovered from the location by Brandon Alinger.

Some of the dredd props etc were instorage at ellstree years ago, costumes and the abc robot, as well as the guns and other bits, don't know if its still there.
Jabba ended up being burnt on the lot while also at ellstree, to big to store

i think a comic shop has the broken down version of the abc robot. i think there may have been several versions including a standing one that could be posed.

edit: a third jaws was made from the orginal mold before it was destroyed. it was not used in any of the jaws movies though. it was used at universal studios for years hanging upside down as a fish "catch" sign. it was moved to a junkyard a few years ago, and is in bad shape. last i heard the junkyard owner was selling the right to go see it for a few minutes.

That was a beautiful set... Sad story.

Similar story to the original Old Pariah movies set in southern Utah, used in The Outlaw Josey Wales.

I know this has been mentioned already, but I have to say it again. One Eyed Willys pirate ship from the Goonies is one amazing set/prop that is truly lost forever. I personally heard this straight from Richard Donner's mouth, that after wrapping up filming they tried to give it away and nobody wanted it, so they dismantled it. The other sad story from the same movie is One Eyed Willy's map. Sean Astin kept the map after filming was over and his mother threw it out on accident. In fact, I believe nearly all sets/props from the Goonies were destroyed, with the exception of One Eyed Willy's head and part of the skull cave set which is rotting away on the Warner Bros. backlot.
