Prop Licensing questions- need help!!

HI,
This is my first post on here.
I am a modelmaker by trade:
www.themodelmaker.co.uk

And have been mucking around making props as a way to vent my creativity from making stuff for other people all the time..........so they arent an*lly correct like I know they should be :rolleyes, I knock 'em out quick to make sure they get finished:redface
BUT
I have started a project which could well take off. I actually had CardsInc ( uk Master Replicas) take my master prototype off me for a month to look into it-signed a non-disclosure and confidentuality agreement- then they got bought out by Corgi, and I didnt hear any more.
So- big question:
Some people on here have produced work which has been studio approved to some extent. I have been trying to chase the owner of the License in question, but I am not 'big enough' for them to take notice of me. My website is currently being updated to look more professional, but can anyone here help me out ?
ANY advice is welcome .
I can prob go down the not-telling-anyone-and-hope-they-dont-sue-me but I would , ideally, like to take this project on as a way to start doing this stuff full time.

Look forward to being a regular user of this forum!

Hi Dan,

welcome to the forum. And great website and awesome examples !
I had a small geek seizure seeing that you made the prototypes for the ST-DVD box sets ! ;) And great rapid prototyping stuff !

Regarding your question, there are more knowledgeable people on the board, but my initial thought was "did he get a receipt for the model" ? If you signed an NDA paper that mentions the prototype, IMO that´s a start.
Then again, I´d just do the usual stuff and put some pressure on the guys who have your stuff. Make a written demand with a set timeframe for them to react, signed for letter etc. Even better, have a lawyer write one. Just a shot in the dark, people have to react to such a thing unless they want to risk their credibility in a law suit that may be not too far down the road.

I didn´t know that Cards Inc. were affiliated with Master Replicas ? I only know that they are entangled with Toys R´us in the UK in some way and that they had their hands in making Celebration Europe happen.

Anyway, you might better sooner than later want to get a lawyer. If they shifted their level of communications down several levels by not returning your calls or requests for a project status update, then
that is not too good a sign.

Good luck !

Michael

Cheers !
I have the model back ( finally) so thats not the problem....Problem was/ is without a 'big player' to add weight to little old me, people just wont talk to me :-( to take it further.
CardInc handle MR stuf over here, as agents.

RE: STar Trek, yes I did all of them ! Quite a few unused designs too. I did some great stuff for Nemesis, and Shrek2 . The smae company also- get this- did a pitch for a mini arc of the covenant for an Indian Jones boxed set.!. Sadly that one never made it to the prototyping stage.
Ill did some pics out and do a seperate posting for them.
