Prometheus - Elizabeth Shaw

Here are some Weyland mission patches I made:

Does anyone know what the difference is between the 'cheap' ~$40 suits and the more common ~$180 ones?

The more expensive ones are most likely Nomex fire retardant suits. Real flight sights are Nomex, while cheap knockoffs are not.

Thats seems logical. Now for the purposes of a costume, does it make sense to get the more expensive one? Are they much better constructed?

The cheap knock offs are usually cotton.

If you have an actual surplus store near you check them out, sometimes they have new or near mint condition Nomex suits cheap.
Even check out thrift (second hand) stores, they sometimes have them super cheap.

You can also find them at gun shows.

Does anyone have any leads on the bag they used to carry the urn and later in the movie Davids head? It looked like a plain brown canvas gym bag.

For costuming I'd go with the cotton ones, they're not only cheaper they're also much lighter and cooler to wear. Generally speaking, there's very little to no need for the fire resistant properties of Nomex when costuming so you're really not losing anything by going with the cotton ones.

There is a thread about Janek's coat somewhere on that forum. As far as I remember some guy pointed out that Janek may be wearing modified Swedish motorcycle jacket:

Really useful thread and it looks like it has led to my second flight suit based costume (put together a Ripley costume earlier in the year, not screen accurate, but reasonable.)

Flight suit ordered (bless the 'bay), patches sourced (various), necklace found (bless the RPF) really only leaving the footwear.

Planning to go through the BluRay at the weekend to see if I can grab anything at all on her boots. Any ideas anyone else has had are welcome.

I've also got hold of an RAF Mk3 cold weather jacket.... And am now considering whether to do a straight Nostromo crew jacket (For my Ripley) or doing it as a Prometheus crew jacket (again, I know it's not screen accurate, am I a bad person?)... Decisions, decisions.

Watch the extras. Not only are they a great watch but theres tons of brightly lit shots of the costumes and props.

I didn't get the super 3D BluRay edition (as I don't/won't have a 3d player), which, in the UK, is the one with all the extras (darn it).

I guess I will have to get that and use the 3d bluey as a coaster or a frisbee :)

Watching yet again and just want to establish that Ravel's jacket is different from the Captain's, it looks more like a centre zip than the overlap front of Jarek, more akin to (but not) the old trusty RAF Mk3 . Trying to get a good screen grab. Any ideas folks??

If you trying to decide between the nomex and cotton, remember that the nomex is hot, does not breathe and is scratchy. This is why you see a lot of the pilots wearing silk scarves. My neck was rubbed raw the first day in flight training.
The nametags can be ordered one at a time at several location on the net, look up FLIGHT SUIT NAMETAGS.
If anyone has good art for the round patch, I have a source to make them cheap.

I am just glad someone else is thinking about doing some Prometheus builds. Rewatched the movie not too long ago and thinking. I might have to do a Prometheus build for a first project.

Cool, what are thinking of?

I've got everything I need now apart from boots and belt. Will update as I go. I've got the full on special edition so, much trawling of special features and judicious pause button use figures in my future.
