Prices for a static R2?

Just looking to get a few estimates. I was looking at putting together an R2-D2 static unit as a display. No bells and whistles, just the bot.

Could anyone give me a rough figure?

Depends if you want all metal pieces or if resin will do. If metal, you're looking at around 3k and about 2 years of waiting. if moving, 5k and up.

I'm planning a small run of metal frames in a month or so...

just sayin'

resin is fine. I don't need 110% accuracy. It's essentially going to be a big paperweight.

For something all plastic and resin, you'd probably be looking in the 1300ish+ range probably for all the parts. You can get a A&A body kit (skins, legs, feet shells, & skirt), someone's pulling vacuformed domes now in the builders club, and then resin greebies/details from a few different sources. Then its just a matter of time and paint to finish. I don't think the A&A stuff will be run again for awhile thou, a run was just completed a week ago I think.

I built several R2's and 2 static versions for around €2500,-, and if you put the resin parts together yourself, you might do it for $1000,-

for a static droid you don't even need a frame, contrary to popular belief :)

every part is available in resin or styreen, even fibreglass complete domes.
there are several resin parts makers and almost everything can be bought instant without much wait.

hmmmm, I have a fiberglass body that won't need any frame. I also have a fiberglass head with etched in detail I can sell you that I painstakingly sanded for hours.

The body is up for sale in the JY

Pictures Pictures Pictures Pictures Pictures somebody post pictures !!!:lol:lol:lol
Click on the banner in my signature to go to my blog. Then you can follow the links there to all the pictures you could want about R2 and his parts, I am sure.

Be careful TB, I said, I have this old $20 aspects dome... I can do a static droid for $1000. I am about $1200 in and building a fully RC droid at this point. It is addictive. You are warned. :)

while I understand you may want this to serve as a giant paperweight. I do have a minor suggestion. Get a metal dome at the very least.

Its the one part of r2 that everyone touches.

Later on, like all life size r2 owners, you'll upgrade parts here and there. Get yourself a nice frame too. If you have a nice frame and a metal dome you'll at least have the opportunity to upgrade parts if you want in the future.

regardless - prepare yourself for an addicting, frustrating, yet ridiculously fun and rewarding experience.
