Pressure casting

Convert a big pressure cooker from Goodwill?

-Sarge

Good idea in theory but extraordinarily bad in practice...on account of the fact that it will kill you when it blows up. Pressure cookers CAN NOT handle the pressure needed for casting.

Use only pressure vessels rated for whatever pressure you apply.

The pot you linked to gobbler is a fine pot and will offer many years of faithful service. I have the same pot only it was repackaged and sold under the craftsman label, but it appears to be the same thing.

Look on Ebay, you can almost always find a better deal on comparable pots...

I just purchased a new one for $30 delivered after it closed with no bids...

Yeah, that's the frustrating thing. They all seem to be just about 9 inches tall. I would love a tank that is 12 - 14 inches tall. Well my search continues.

I've had this bookmarked for awhile but price and not being asme rated have always kept me from buying since I've seen the aftermath of the non-certified HF pressure sandblaster that grenaded. But these pressure pots are plenty deep atleast.

10 gallon 12-1/2" diameter x 21-3/8" Deep

15 gallon 14-1/2" diameter x 21-1/2" deep

I've used a pressure cooker for almost 10yrs and never had a problem. I only use between 15 - 25psi and it works everytime. Just my two cents.
