Presenting my AA/DST TMP Phaser

I took some pics of my AA/DST phaser and wanted to share them for everyone since I know alot of people don't have thiers yet.

It is basically identical to the WOK except for the paint color (which is very dull in comparison to the WOK), the lights, control panel around the LEDs, and the trigger. The sounds either are or are almost identical to the WOK. Sweet phaser for the cash though!

Anyway, here she is!

Sweet, thanks for the pics, I think I will pick tis one up also, would look great modded next to my modded TWOK. Thanks Jason!

Beautiful pics, thanks! :)

It looks as if the button colors don't exactly match the prop we always see pics of. Makes me wonder if it's just an error, or if Diamond had different reference material.

Still, it's a great looking toy, and I think the colored buttons are more visually interesting than the solid copper buttons of the TWOK.

I have to say, I was going to pass on this, but these pics look pretty good.

Looks like they got a lot right... the two-brass-buttons on each control key (rather than the "equals sign" that the WOK has)... the trigger is right (more correct for what it's representing than the DST WOK toy)...

Should not have the holo tape though. And the "side ribs" should wrap all the way around the nose of the phaser.

Here are the known photos of the TMP prop, from my files.

Always prefered the lighting effect on the TMP vs TWOK version.

The rows of lights look like little lit-up jewels, an emerald, ruby, topaz, and sapphire. So purty! :lol

Phasersonthrill - you're right - they do look like Jewels and such - very in keeping and reminiscent of the TOS communicator. I always liked the jewels on the communicator - just because it's nothing you'd usually find on a prop - or gun for that matter!

Yep, have to get one as well. Should not be hard to add the missing rib around the emitter. Some plastic stock from Plastruct or Evergreen will do the trick. A repaint and this one should be good to go! A thin strip inbetween the side ribs will also hide the seam there as well.

I'm a little bummed that the sounds are seemingly the same but it makes sense. I'd rather have that than pushing a button and hearing Ilia say...BEEGARE or some crap like that.

All in all, I like it for the different jewel lights etc. Hopefully it will arrive today and I can futz with it while I've got my TWOK disassembled for upgrading. :lol

It won't bother me if it is the same sounds. Afterall, we never saw or heard it being fired to begin with.

$35 toy does not equal a $500 professional prop replica. AA/DST did a damn fine job with this one.

I hear you. Even I am getting prepared to maybe do over a TWOK or TMP, which is an area where I am a n00b of the first order ! Can't beat the price.

Since the issue of color inaccuracies was brought up in regards to the control panel, here's where the problems lie in that regard. A quick study of the best available photos of the actual hero filming prop reveals these inaccuracies:

Add to that the inaccurate foil tape on the sides, the lack of the "ribs" around the beam emitter, and the lack of the black "butt plate" on the end of the hand grip, and you have the complete list of the most glaring inaccuracies. Oh, and the entire sculpt is off when compared to the hero prop. The hero prop's shape/contours were noticeably different, but that one's much harder to fix. And that problem is further complicated by the fact that every prop used in the film was sculpted by hand and as mentioned in one of the other threads about this prop, they all came out with different shapes from one another.

I just got my phaser in the mail today (love it!), and the LED you have labeled as "should be yellow, not purple" is yellow. I don't know where the incorrect color is coming from in the photo, but the toy is correct in that regard.

ETA: Here's a quick pic I snapped with my webcam; no purple in sight.

In that case, I stand corrected! :$

Thanks for that info, sir! In the official photos on the Entertainment Earth website, it looks purple, as well, so it must be some weird trick of the light. Most likely, the yellow LED was unlit in the photos we've seen so far, and so the blue light bleeding through from the blue LED below it, and the red light from the red LED above it, blended together into purple.

As for the other part being gold when it should be clear, if I knew what I was doing (which I don't) I would take one apart, remove that part (which on the toy is the button used to change the "power level setting",) make a mold from it, and then make one in clear plastic or resin, and stick the new clear part into my phaser. Then it would be accurate enough for me to be happy. But again, I do NOT know what I'm doing in that regard. :unsure
