PREDATORS - MOVIE INFO

Quik question for you Bensin - aren't you even the slightest bit giddy at the fact that you'll see some Bad Blood action? Doesn't that excite you? I'm just curious...

I think the bad blood concept could have worked if there was a bad blood and an arbiter coming to kick his ass. The way they did it I think was just distasteful and tacky. Sure, there might have been a small chance I'd start wanting to see the movie, but knowing what I know, not really. At all. I mean I'm also a big fan of Stan Winston, and it's just wrong to me and it's not just that they tried to stand on the shoulders of the P1 design to bolster their own Preds, but I also see it as disrespect.

I don't know if I mentioned this before, maybe I did I'm not sure if it was even in this thread... ...but in an interview Stan was being asked about the AVP Predators and the movie, and to be frank, what I got from his responses was a lot of disappointment, that he would have liked to do the work on the Predators featured in AVP. So, if something like that, that doesn't even directly tread on his timeless work makes him react with disappointment, how would he feel now? I didn't read the leaked script,
but even if the P1 does manhandle the new Predators until they finally get him, or if they just kick his ass
- in the end the result is the same. I would think, that with the legacy Stan left behind, people would show it (the legacy) and the man himself some more respect.

About your question, I would love for this to have come out differently, they had an okay thing going.
Again, if they wanted to show that they were bad bloods and/or that they were so strong, they could have popped in a really big, vicious looking Pred. ...but it HAD to be a clone of the one that started it all.
That sealed the deal for me.

I won't deny that I was against the movie from day one. Why? Because of the previous two films were disappointing at best. Wolf Predator was EXCELLENT, can't lie. When I heard about this new movie, I thought, great, another AVP **** fest - very slowly I began to think okay...we might have something decent here. Even though there were still some things I didn't like, I was closer to neutral rather than dead negative. Then...I found out what I found out, and that was it.

Out of everything, I would have to say the biggest thing that pisses me off is the fact that Stan had to go, and he didn't even get the opportunity to revisit the movement that he started when he and his studio created the badass that brought us all together, and now THIS happens.

Are we there yet? I've been waiting since Terminator Salvation to see something good enough to go to a theater for.

Bensin,

My take on it is that this movie sets up the concept of the Bad Blood(s) and brings out their utter ruthlessness (even by Pred standards)

and somehow word gets back that the badbloods have set up their own private unauthorized hunting enclave....

Then we have the hammer of justice coming their way in the next installment of the story

Now that would be pretty sweet Julie. I guess if this makes enough money then we'll see more movies. Hopefully RR will stay on board.

What I'm hoping for is, this movie gets enough spark to have other directors interested take the predator serious further. Maybe later down the road we will have our movie, we all have been wishing and hoping for. We honestly are getting very close lol. AVP sucked AVPR almost came through and now Predators, it's getting their lol...

If they did THAT...and added the P2 ELDER as the arbiter/arbitrator I WOULD TOTALLY WATCH IT. ...and the P2 Elder can't die.

Also, he should tea-bag the corpses of these 'super black' predators too, not required, but preferred.

I kind of understand where Bensin is coming from I'm not disappointed @ all with this film as for what I have seen this far. I'm really looking forward to it to be quite honest, but I think Bensin
what you are talking about is from where I have read is a quote from the wikipedia version for Stan Winston that said "In 2004, he expressed great disappointment when director Paul W.S.
Anderson did not come to him for the creature effects for Alien vs. Predator, seeing as how he designed the Predator and the Alien Queen. "They're like my children to me," he stated."
.

I will say this that I'm not happy about the fact that the identical looking P1 Predator dies for two reasons 1) He is my favorite regardless if it suppose to be him or not I know he died in the first
film 2) He is considered in my eyes the good guy in this film and then he dies. I don't want the good guy to die ever in any film and I see the Bad Bloods as disrespectful, dishonoralbe, low lifes that needs to be brought to justice and that is where the Classic Pred comes in. I want to see some either him or another Pred from that tribe come in and kick BSP's ass all over that planet.

They are never going to please everyone with the film, even if it ticks all the boxes , some people will still moan, and THAT is their choice, if they do not like it they do not like it.

Not long now guys n girls, then we can get away from the IF's and BUT's. to hopefully the WOW' and COOL's.

I feel bad for the fans who know the back story of the Predators through the books and comics and the creator's renditions of potential storylines; when their expectations are destroyed by films they come to hate. But you have to realize it's hard to put a film together that will please everyone. Especially when these directors and everyone else involved is given a deadline to meet. You can't rush art and when you do you do not get art.

Let the film be what it will. Do not set expectations. The previous films have done that. Don't let your mind wander with scripts you'd like to see. You'll only be disappointed and upset when the storyline you wanted is not the storyline that is created.

I agree with PredatrHuntr. The classic predator in the upcoming film is just a character, and had nothing to do with disrespecting anyone if the classic predator gets killed in this film.

Uhh yeah. It is just a character. Why'd they have to go and name him classic predator though. Guess they didn't think about how that might erk some people. It's just a character yes. But they could have and probably should have given him a different name.

Oh, lol just for the record, I'm not upset with the name or classic predator dying. Just playing devil's advocate and taking into consideration some of the views of the people on the other side.

I really dont understand the RR vs SW debate thing going on... You people do realize the Greg Nicotaro and Howard Berger from KNB were both part of the SWS crew that worked on P1? you do realize the Stan did not come up with the classic Pred concept, Robert Short did ..he was hired as a conceptual artist for the film when the the Jean Claude VanDame insectoid pred was failing in tests. How about that the script was written by John and Jim Thomas and was directed by John McTiernen. I never hear their names mentioned. Rodriguez is PRODUCING this film ..he will choose his effects team ..he has used KNB for most of his films and feels comfortable with them ..and well he should. The are very close to this franchise..many others in their shop have worked on the other Pred movies as well ... yes even the ADI ones) We are a pretty tight knit community in the effects game ..artists all know each other fairly well because they often float between shops.

Still dont get all the commotion, but I feel that there is a bit a misinformation floating about ..and that sometimes effect lore gets a bit bastardized.

if your statement for saying the predators suck because Stan Winston can't say if he likes it

he passed away, and he doesn't have a video with what he would like to see on the new preds. Of course it was a disgreas in my opinion that ADI and not sws did the effects, and i see why he isn't happy with the redisigns. But now the best choice is in my eyes KNB EFX, as been said above they have worked on the original and are really good artists. And i still think we shouldn't over react with the BSP killing the original. It is just a movie monster, and i think Stan would be okay with it as long as the design and final products are good.

Thank you for clarifying that George. Most people will never know who created the concept art for the original Predator...everyone thinks SWS did with Stan doing most of the work since it was created at SWS.

Same with the Classic Pred...people who remember the original Predator movie will recognize the suit and design. People who aren't hardcore will be very confused as to why hes still alive and forget that this is not the same one and that the movie is a reboot...

I hate it when people get misinformed, but at least we have you George! Being that you're in the industry making monsters...well I tip my hat to you sir

To be completely honest with you all, since this movie is suppose to be the one after the original, I would have preferred to see Wolf instead of P1. Don't get me wrong, I love P1. He was the first. He set the bar. But Wolf, imo, blew the bar apart. He was such a badass...like a good version of a bad blood. He destroyed every alien. I just believe that Wolf would have destroyed the Badbloods.

While i completely agree on wolfies bad assed-ness, and would love to see more of his back story, i would have liked to see a new awsome design in this movie up against the freaks! something along the same lines as the P1, P2, lost hunters or wolf, something that is very recognisable as a classic looking pred but new and different. But im not complaining about seeing our old friend back in action, even if he doesn't meet the best ending, lets hope he goes out with a big bang!!...... hang on, he did that already... you know what i mean!

It would be sweet to see either of the ones you mentioned, but different. Maybe a mix between Wolf and P1? Maybe even a P1S with an upgrade to his armor and weaponry, but that may upset some hardcore P1 fans? But yea, I agree that a "new" Pred going against the Bad Bloods would be sweet.

At least this time it wont be a log?

Right on,
Thanks offering some clarity on that, George. I think the shots in the broad daylight with Oleg and the "classic" P1 are a pretty freakin good testament to the build quality of the suit. From what I can tell, it is hard enough to make something look good in low light on film, let alone in sunlight. The skins on those Preds just look sick as hell to me.

Anyway,
So after my comment yesterday about wanting the movie to do well so we can see more, and how I wanted to see full scale Predator war on screen - of course I had a dream last night about the trailer for a fully epic film where it happens.
All I can remember is this ridiculously awesome long shot of their star system and homeworld and the words "Their civilization was the shining light of a dark galaxy..." and, man oh man the ships and SFX were nutzo. Now I need to make that trailer...

ONLY 7 DAYS!!!!
