PREDATORS - MOVIE INFO

Why wouldnt the predators cloak in this movie? You mean because of no CGI?

Im sure they will of course, my point was that while cgi can be overused and often is, it can aslo be necesarry for such things as the preds cloak and plasma caster etc etc....

I know that kinda got me thinking to wonder how they will cope with the effects of the plasma caster etc? NO PLASMA CASTERS MAYBE?? :D

Yes there will be CGI. Yes you will see shoulder canons blasting and Preds cloaking. However, the Predators themselves will not be CGI. There will be a lot of hands on special effects and guys in Pred suits. Remember that they wanted to capture the feel of the 1st movie and are doing everything possible to make this new and exciting, and holding true to what we already know about Predators.

Wow, he's watched Predator 8 times? He must be an expert then...

:D j/k (mostly), I'm glad that he's gone back to the original and studied it so much to try and capture the feel of the first movie. If they can pull that off, I think they'll be a long way to winning old time fans over.

Pfffft.....I watched in 8 times last week.

Thank god for that,CGI preds ugh

Wasn't the original cloaking effect a film trick, rather than CGI? Yes, there was green screen involved, but if I'm remembering rightly (and I'll be the first to admit I may not be) the actual cloaking effect was achieved with some kind of manipulation of the film, both shot on location and on greenscreen. 1987 seems awfully early for successful CGI.

Hopefully they're using any CGI to accent the film, rather than George Lucas's approach of "ZOMG LOOK WHAT WE CAN DO WITH COMPUTERS."

Hopefully so, that said ILM did a superb job with star trek last year!! they really showed how much cgi has improved, but for creatures and faces etc, it just isn't up to scratch yet.

Man does it ever. And as for the remastered Original trilogy, oh dear. Jabba looks like he's been painted onto the film strip with crayon! Only a matter of time before Lucas re-re-re-releases it with updated CGI I'd say.

god, dude, please don't say that! i love some star wars (originals) deep down in my heart once in a while. but no more re-releases please...it's only a matter of time before they "re-boot" that damn series anyway, (not to give anyone ideas, i swear to god i'll...) k...(breaths in) now back to "PREDATORS" :D

anyone else miss the "not so detailed" cloaking?

i think the new way doesn't conceal the identity near as good, i love how the predator totally seamed like a ghost up til a certain point.

O yeah. The "not so detailed" cloaking is the classic. Besides lookin like a ghost he looked like living gelatin. It was awesome. lol

Yeah sorry i forgot about that Stealthy hunter the ****** MOOSE!

Sure, it's not exactly the ninja of the northwoods, but it's not getting hung up on every vine. Lots of cultures have impractical decoration and ornamentation, even those that hinder practical exploits, like hunting. I don't think Tusky would keep having to holler "Hey wait for me guys!" as he gets himself out of a rhododendron.

And as far as the CGI, the article that says they've done no greenscreen clearly says they'll be doing touch ups and odds and ends, so obviously we'll see a bit here and there (cloaking, plasma casters).

ya think about that tribe that has the two foot skinny gords stickin up off of their... thingies. can't imagine runnin through the jungle, hunting with one of those things attached to ya, you better hope it don't get snagged on a branch...... (YOWCH!!)
