PREDATORS - MOVIE INFO

I remember you showing me that pic Bryan, shame you didnt post it before, you could have gone on a rant about IDEA STOLEN arrrrrrrrrg hehe 
I know Chris poted the link to this on the last page , but i wanted to copy this here.
-- Calling it Predators was a nod to James Cameron's Alien sequel Aliens.
-- Cameron apparently came up with the design for the original Predator mouth.
-- The film will not be in 3D.
-- Multiple shots and music cues will be taken directly from the original.
-- Predator will also be referenced as a sort of ghost story told during the film.
-- There will be no CGI Predators -- all the effects work on that front is practical.
-- The studio supported it being bloody and badass because of the popularity of unrated DVDS.
-- Dark Horse Comics will be publishing a prequel and a sequel.
-- Both men want to continue the series, and have multiple ideas for the future of the franchise.
Apart from the comic thing ( which ive personally never been fond of the comic take on the pred ) most of the other points , along withbeing awesome could have very well come from our own forum.
No damn 3d, practical effects, bloody as hell and continue the series........... eeeeeek i feel my exciteometer hitting critical hehe.

Not to say your wrong, but i'm sure Mr Winston mentioned in interviews that when He and Cameron were on a plane to/from toyko for an "Aliens junket" JC noticed the Predator sketch and said "he would like to see something with mandibles" so Stan penciled them in.
I think it is in one of the features on the P1 SE DVD.
Not trying to cause nothing, but i'm sure that what happened according to Stan Winston

He did ...but for the lame insectoid mandibles on the JCVD predator. Robert Shorts team were brought in to re-conceptualize the new predator ..including side mandibles. The ones Cameron "suggested" were scrapped ..never looked anything like the ones we have come to know.

Intersting what goes into a design and how many hands there are.
Having been a make up effects artist myself, (while ago now) i had frogotten how people in the industry tag their names onto others concepts.

At the first word of this remake months ago when we all first heard about it I was about as skeptical as I could be...but now, I'm feeling very confident about this one guys. Idk what it is but it seems like they've done their homework on what it would take to breathe life into the Predator. I'M PUMPED! Suit is definitely going on for this premier baby!!

The Cameron thing is ********. Winston did his thing and it became the Predator, not Cameron. I read that the other day and lost my mind.
Ok, after reading and watching all these interviews, seeing the new design Preds, listening to actors, directors, and producers talk about what the "fans" want and how they are going back to the roots of Predator because of how much the "fans" love this character even through the bad films, and just how this film has come about in general...if the "fans" they speak of isnt us here on the Lair...I'm a one legged blue flying monkey. Too many coincidences in their commentaries not to see they come here and accually read and heard what we had to say.

The way I see it is that the predator came to life from not really just 1 person but from many people it was a combination of ideas and designs. so far I'm happy with what they are doing with predators especially going back to the original design of the first movie. I know they mention not liking part 2 at all. but I enjoyed that movie and I also like the design on part 2 aswell, the film looks like its gonna be a blast hopefully it satisfies most of the great predator fans here its always good to see the predator on film again.
Maybe "all the nut jobs on the hunter's lair" even gets that special ceredit that someone, I think it was you, mentioned way back in this thread.
Now THAT would be awesome

If the original pred is an A track and the new preds are ipods...does that mean the new ones have bugs that make the original better? jk

Guess I will be pulling those Predator lower mandible bones off the bio I was working on. Started something almost just like this a few months ago. I used the lower manidible bones from one of those undersize Predator skull kits. Lol. Oh well.

can't tell you how many people around me are like...."ANDREW did you know there is a new predator film?,...did you hear??...." will you be suiting up?? ....
as far as the relationship the lair as "fans" might have with the film, if we inspired the designers or the creative people behind the film come here for that extra little snippet of design inspiration
...all i can is good for us
lets just have fun with a new film and keep the fire going here...
hey george maybe with some of your contacts in hollywood you can get some of the members suited up to be at the premier of the film

Working on finding out about premier news as we speak. Sending some feeler out to some friends with friends at FOX. this has been relatively closed lipped in LA. Surprisingly too ...most of the time I can get pretty good tidbits of info on up coming films
