Well, until now I thought of Gilligan when I saw him, but after reading some of the comments on the other site, I'll be thinking of him dancing on the bar in the Biker's club. What was the song? Was it Tequila? God help us.

We cried out for a decent actor/cast and we seem to have got that for the most part, just because he doesnt have 20+ inch arms doesnt mean a thing. and we shouldnt be blinded by his past films.
It is a worry whether he can turn himself into a action star, BUT as said before he lobied hard for the part, which bodes well i personally think.

I hope we're all, (including me) surprised and happy at the sucess of the film and the performance he gives, maybe this will be a gritty predator film, which is what it needs, to drag it into the modern action film era.

Well said. I KNOW that if instead of Adrien Brody they had a 25 year old first time actor in that pic/for the role everybody would moan and go on - you should all be thankfull. I know I am, we have an experienced actor that can (from what I have seen) certainly do his job well. (plus there's the factor to him that he may get people thinking - 'well Brody was good in (whatever film they have seen of him) maybe this is a good film' when it comes out.

I am all for Brody - rather him that the crap actors we got in AVP2 (for the most part).

I dont really want to see so many pics... because one of them will probably spoil alot of the movie. *Thinking AVPR - Wolf and Chet battle*
If it is pics that does not show us the predator, then sure. But Im afraid a pic of the predator will spoil it all. I want that little mystery that's left I guess.

See i wouldn't mind seeing the predator at all but i hope they dont do a AVP-R and show us the main predator unmasked at the very beggining, thats what was great in P1 esp by the end of the movie it was like, "how can this guy get any more awesome" them BAM! he takes off his mask and its just totally badass!.

Well IMDB now has Derek Mears in the cast list. ( not a rumour like Adrien Brody, oddly enough who we have seen, `on set pics` of )

They better make creative with the camera angles as at 6'5 hes a FULL 1 foot shorter than KPH and 10 inches smaller than IW,Not to mention hes quite bulky. this is obviously pre pred mask and feet, but we can pretty much guarantee hes not going to have any huge lifts, as hell need to move swiftly and be agile to play our favorite hunter.

Adrien Brody is 6'1 as a comparison.

let's face it, a normal Pred, as we love 'em, is about 7'3" (KPH obv), so how you'd realistically do, say, an 8'6" Pred as a giant one is difficult to imagine, beyond forced angles or CGI.

A "super pred" doesn't neccessarily have to be taller than a normal pred. Damn i hate that term though!!! all preds are "super" enough, lets hope this is just some marketing ploy.... i.e the producers stating the obvious to try and attract more attention?

As for Derek Mears, im not too aware of the guy, he certainly doesn't look like the typical pred actors so far however which doesn't bode well imo, he could be amazing though so... we'l see.

Infact.... he looks like a hitman so i won't be speaking ill of the man

It's obvious that very little thought goes into casting these films. AVPR for example. The studio just doesn't take them seriously, and I hope that isn't the case with this one. My fear is that Brody got it because he was the only person who was interested in the lead. Maybe RR fans will get behind this one and it will have a good showing. I'd still really like more solid information. It could also be that the Preds and humans won't be seen together one-on-one very much. This could help take attention away from the fact that the Preds might not be as big as they should be. I can't see them spending the kind of dough that Jackson did with LOTR making the Hobbits look Hobbit-sized beside humans, etc. Then again, there's the old monster on the platform-actor in the trench trick to make the people look smaller and the monsters look bigger. God, I'm getting depressed. We'll just have to wait and see. It all goes back to whether or not the fans matter to RR, and whether he takes the project seriously, or is just trying to satisfy his own vanity.

Anyone remember PETER KEYES from P2 played by a very nutty "GARY" Busey?

Have they used the real actors name with the characters name as a nod to the past?

I hear you on that one Lee...you could make a reasonable facsimile of at least 40% of AVPR simply by using shots from the previous Predator and Alien movies. It was like someone taking the concept of a greatest hits record and applying it to film.
