I am trying NOT to get annoyed but if IMDB cast updates are anything to go by, this is going to be frustrating.

looks like i was right with the Gary Busey, Peter Keyes, name thing, and they have continued it on to several more members.

THEN it gets worse.

then they finally top that with.


Henry Kingi AS - Arnold Schaefer ( are you ******* ******** me???? )



Although several are only rumoured, the only way they could make it cornier is if they name someone IVOR HARDON ffs !

i sincerly hope they are taking the piss. and this is just a bad joke.

Oh yeah, this is getting better all the time! Now it looks like we really will have to pray for a miracle. There sure are a lot of nods to those who came before for a "reboot". Maybe RR's statement about people just remembering P1 and his version was that P1 was the best and his will be the worst. I sure hope not.

if rr had any sense he wopuld come on here and ask us what we want to see in the new rebooted predators ie ONE predator kicking ass with maybe a new set of weapons and an interesting backdrop picking off a great cast of actors!!
in fact why dont we do a rival reboot? youtubes first blockbuster???!!
 
not too bothered about names, i kinda like little injokes etc, but what does raise an eyebrow is if they got a big mofo like Hodder, why he ain't one of our bad boys..?
 
Because predators need to have the ability to move quicker than 1mph hehe.

i agree in jokes are cool but not to the extent they seem to be heading.

I am trying to stay so positive about this. (Think good thoughts). There is so much potential. One thing I loved about the first one, is you didn't see the big man till the end really...and at that point you were ready for one kick ass battle. Obviously they need to explore new stuff, but I hope it is more suspenseful than loads and loads of cgi crap.

I think Adrian is a good thing. He does have talent. I think this will be a definite change from his "type cast", but I think the guy can pull it off. He is obviously trying to show everyone a new side of him, and I am keeping the faith.

The name joke kinda takes the piss out of it though. I mean come on...really?

First and formost I mean no disrespect to anyone with anything I say. So far it looks like maybe 75 to 80% of the people that have heard anything about this movie think that its doomed to fail. Its funny to me because the only thing we know is who has been cast and a little bit about the script. Ok yeah so the cast kind of sucks, from what I know is that the budget on this thing is crazy huge. So I will ask this which is more important the actor's who we hope to all see die by the end of the movie our everything else( the costumes, the predator home world **** blowing up!) all the stuff we want to see in a PREDATOR MOVIE!!. So a big name cast is out because with a big name cast comes big name money. And for all those people that are thinking our hoping that this movie will be as big as say??? an epic movie like(starwars,lordoftherings,ect...) its not gonna be the only thing I'm looking forward to are the fact that I get to see the predator on the big screen again. Like i saw some were else it cant be any worst then AVP or AVPR.

Just me...

I heard that Fox pared the budget back to the bone in exchange for not getting involved in the creative stuff (also known in the trade as 'ruining the movie').

I'm trying not to judge the movie based on the very little we know, but all the little 'nods' to the past are making me roll my eyes. New movie guys. Fresh start. No more nods to the past please. Just a kick ass new movie.
 
no big names? This is the first predator film with an an Academy award winning lead actor. It's actually budgeted low as far as your general SciFi action flicks go...but in my opinion ..that is not a bad thing.

This is true. I've seen some really great movies that did some pretty amazing stuff on a shoe-string budget. Although, I hope it's not budgeted too low - like Sci-Fi Channel low. Hah! Wait... I'm sorry, I meant Sy-Fy or however it's dumbassedly spelled now.

Ha ...I was wondering if I should have spelled it that way too ..but I went old school. Initial budget reports were for 40 million ...though the rumor floating around here is that it is a little bigger then that. I think I may have an inside on some details..but not much is coming my way yet

I think the inclusion of all these throwback names is a bit too coincidental maybe the predators are specifically capturing the offspring of the people who have put up a good fight sort of thing. Maybe its an important part of the storyline?
 
If this is a "reboot" as has been stated, there shouldn't be ANY references to things or people past in the franchise, or they should just call it what it is...a sequel or prequel. I think it all goes back to the fact that today, originality is pretty much dead in Hollywood, with everyone wanting to "reboot" something that is already established because everyone else is doing it, and quite frankly, they can't come up with anything original themselves. It looks like comic hero type films are taking over to a certain degree now, with all these Marvel movies and so on, dominating the big screen like the western once did. I really wish the people who make these films would get in touch with the REAL fans and take their cue from us. It's strange that they haven't figured out that they would make more money if they made films with the fans in mind who would see it more than once, or at least spread a good buzz about it after they see it, instead of making films that the fans will see just because it's the Predator on the big screen again. They seem to be counting on the dvd sales a little too much I think. I, for one would like more from a Predator film than just new bios or masks to sculpt.
 
What the hell, maybe they'll throw in the killer rabbit from Monty Python and the Holy Grail too so Brody can yell "Run away!"

i can only hope that if these character names are real then you are at least somewhat right about that. and as stated earlier about the whole importance of good actors because they are just gonna die, well im pretty sure that was the main problem about the AVP movies, they had a couple real actors in the first one, still didn't add up to anything but they did and the second AVP... well as far as actors go it was worthless. im sorry im even a person that can accept a lot of things for what they are even when no one else can, but i coulda gave a **** less if a single person lived at the end, i really even wish that they didn't make it outside of the atomic blast or whatever "the man" did there at the end. they all should've died. imo. anyhow the fact that the first two pred movies were full of great actors is what overall made the movies worth watching at the end of the day. they've already proven that you can have all the aliens and predators in a movie that you can fit, and it will suck if you don't have, im sorry to say, good human acting to relate too. characters that, even though we're routing for the predators, are still required to put up a good fight ( well at least not be a bunch of pussies) and not make me sit there and force myself to believe their terrible acting. is it that we honor the humans that give it there all against the pred? and don't just "run" or "scream" or "smile" when they've "befriended" one... ... so it goes. preds don't want to take trophies of a creature that was running away from it, right? where's the honor there? there wasn't a single person in either AVP that went after a predator (except wayland ) and that was ****** hilarious!!! but the rest just pissed themselves and tried to run,WTF?? OH, and there was lex and her little half assed "icepick" move, which was equally as ridiculous as the before mentioned "wayland fireball" :lol:


i don't know, i just hope to god that they don't destroy it... because im not ready to live with the idea that there will only ever be two pred movies that are worth watching, for the rest of my life, i don't really just want two... three would be nice, at least.
 
well i'm still not happy about the dogs and stuff. other stuff : "something crashing through the jungle" - so much for the stealth used last time to ambush trained soldiers, i guess.
another thing that's bugging me - parachutes?? fricking PARACHUTES??!! how old tech is that for a race w/ interstellar travel and town-sized ships that can quite happily hover?

still waiting for actual pics and trailers, but nothing in there to allay my disappointment and pessimism.
