Well, I thought I'd post up my newest creation.
The blades are scrap plastic bucket, dowels and
a mailer tube make up the rest. Total build: $20.00
Critique?

Looks pretty good
You should add mare stuff on it, maybe make it have a roughly wrapped handle, and weather it down a bit.
I dunno that kinda stuff

Nice job!!!

Ditto on the weathering. It looks too perfect. Weathering will make it look like it has seen a season of hunting!!

Thank you all for the kind comments! Well I called myself
weathering it. I painted the whole thing a dark bronze,
then sponged on a little copper and finally sponged the
silver. I guess I went too wild with the silver or maybe
I need a better camera. Anyone with some weathering tips?
I have also been looking for some baubles and trinkets to
add to my spear. I have some leather and I snatched a
weird coin w/ beads off my wife's bellydancing sash thingy.
Any other suggestions would be cool. Thanx again to all.

It could be the flash, sometimes it's hard to see the true colors in pictures.

Once you have the metallic colors down, do a wash of black to get into the recessed areas. Maybe add some light-green or turquoise patina to give the copper and bronze an oxidized look.

Again thanx for the kind comments. Please see the updated pics, B&BD you were right on the money,
thanx! ;) I made sure to get as close as I could for detail, hence the bellydance coin....Lol :p

Great job, thats one good looking weapon you have made there. I do love scratch built stuff.... :p

looks real good to me, i like the fact that you havent been over intricate with the design, looks like what it is.

A KILLING TOOL :p

Looks like it came right out of the movie, it doesn't get much better than that.

And as far as weathering goes, I've been of the opinion that the Predators take great care of their hunting weapons. Cleaning and regular maintenance to assure a clean and swift kill...like deer hunters. Ever seen a deer hunter using a dirty rifle?

Good point!!!! My rifles dont have one spec of dirt on em, they get cleaned as soon as im done shooting them. Im sure Carl is much the same way.---Joe
