pre-pro fett rifle

inspired by skaught's post of rancho obi-wan pics, i really *looked* at my pics of the pre-pro fett rifle steve sansweet has in his collection.

right off, a couple of things jumped out at me. the barrel is a graflex flash painted black, and it has the piece used as the "stabilizer" on the fett jetpack at the tip.

any other parts jump out at people?

camera grip would make sense... someone on the production team must have known a good junk camera parts store

i'm sort of toying with trying to build one of these up. it's a bit on the obscure side though, and i usually tend to stick with better known props.

still, it's interesting in that it's both very star wars looking, but not at all at the same time (if that comment makes any sense at all)

I thought that was that wierd rod that's on many custom Vader ROTJs. I know the original's "rod" was the ESB fighting blade, but I always wondered about why it was made into a more detailed piece for customs as well as not being fully cut off on the original. When I saw these pics, I thought that rod was part of that graflex and the reason why the ROTJ saber's rod wasn't cut off was because it made it look like like a flashgun like this one. After I read more, I found out this was false. Oh well... I wonder why the original's was never cut off.

Note that it's the wrong Graflex for a lightsaber too.
It's one of those odd Graflexes with the engraved lines on it and weird trigger button.

The base of the gun is a toy Uzi.

TK7602 - You're right the rod coming out the front is the same as the one on Fett's jetpack. I hadn't noticed that before.
VD name for the part is "missile targeting rangefinder".

that's one of the things that made me go rotj with my fett. no bleepin' flashes stuffed in the barrel of the gun...

Correct on both parts. But the Uzi is heavily modified. It took me about a month to get it to look just like the piece Steve has. Alot of filling and sanding involved.

It didn't seem too modified. Might just be a different variation of Uzi than you started from.
Have you ID'ed that orange (painted black) rectangular box on the side that has the silver cone tip on it?

I've had the Fett rifle out and examined it very closely as well.

any idea if that's a found item of some sort? it seems odd that it would be a custom thing and then find itself going from blaster to jetpack.
